Old Tires
One of the local guys is in need of a 295 rear, which I thought I had in my storage locker. Discovered I have two 235s for the front. Both have a mfg date of 0104, so first week of 2004, right. Can I use these, or too old? They've been in plastic bags in my storage locker, no sun, and, living where I do, cool temps. I'm guessing I took them off the car 2-3 years ago. Lots of rubber still.

Sure , a decade ago I was buying used and old rain and semi slicks used them for a winter and when bald turned them into summer slicks.
Seriously, 6 years is the cut off age for new properly stored tyres for most manufacturers, so 7 is not a big stretch. Inform the buyer and let him make the decision.

I agree with the above comments. Recently I corded a left rear tire on a tire that was in pretty good condition -- still don't know the exact reason but probably too low hot pressure and a lot or right turns a LRP.
I replaced the damaged tire with an '08 tire that was in my garage from a previous season and happily reported no issues on the track. Interesting that Tirerack was backordered of MPSC 295 rear tires.

Not selling them. The guy was looking for a rear 295, which I thought I had.
I'll buy a set of 295s for my rear, and use these on the front of my car. Street only.

Yeah, I dug up some old Hoosiers from 2004 and threw them on my racecar for a fun, no point race. By the end ofthe race I wasn't having any fun! Thread literally was getting pulled of the tire - pretty bad. Tires definitely age!
