Broken Studs
#106
If I wanted to use studs, my preference would be to modify the hubs to accept standard press-fit studs. If using threaded studs, I would only use those verifiably made in the USA. One primary source appears to be MSI Racing in Charlotte (http://www.msiracingproducts.com/products.html). TC Kline also carries studs made in Charlotte.
My 3 cents… inflation ;-)[/QUOTE]
+1 on MSI studs. I have used them without issue. I like the fact that they are roll formed and are used by many professional sports car and NASCAR race teams. Racing is a pretty good test bed IMHO.

Just read this whole thread after this occurred this past w/e at a race.
My conclusion is solid motor/trans mounts, slicks etc. and +80 race hrs on studs = failure.
I'm told on RSR's they are replaced after 30 hrs. My car is decidedly not an RSR but we will now replace these annually.

We have had multiple stud failures on DE driven cars. These stud failures occurred after only a few days of driving...certainly not 80+ hours. The last time we spoke to the supplier we were told that we should use someone els's product. Not the answer we wanted to hear. I was very annoyed at their response. I'd like to hang them out to dry right here on Rennlist but I'm not that way. Most all my clients wanted these "screw in" type studs removed from their vehicles. I don't blame them one bit. I will not use their product(s) at all anymore.
