An exhaust in oem diameter with less restrictive cats and mufflers can still make a bit more power than the factory one. Plus tuners take advantage of the interchangeability between oem and tuned. So you can first buy their cats and then mufflers etc.

But if you want maximum power and more importantly more torque you need to increase the diameter..
