oil pressure gauge fault

oil pressure gauge fault
a few days ago my oil pressure gauge on the 996 gt3 failed . as i was driving the pressure gauge went from about 5 to 0 . at the same time in the message window on the instrument panel a message displayed saying "indicator failure" (or some such thing) with a picture of an oil can. then the needle popped back to 5 for a while and then back to 0 . this cycle keeps repeating.
my porsche dealer says it sounds like the "sender" unit is malfunctioning
does this sonfd right . is this something i can find and fix myself
any help would be appreciated
thanks
also while i am here i am looking for a way to connect the chin spoiler to the front bumper in a manner that will keep it more secure than just using the porsche supplied connectors . i was thinking of using those expanding bolts or screws that are used to hang things on dry wall. thanks

Dell is right.
For the lip use the oem ones and add 3-5 bolts with washers in the front section.
This way the lip will stay on with minor impacts.
If something goes wrong like hitting a giant turtle or having an off in the track the few bolts will not destroy the bumper. : )

MIne stopped working too, but it was not the sender. It was the guage itself and I have not been able to get it repaired, depsite sending the guage out. Rather than replace the cluster, I added a stand alone electronic oil pressure guage.
