Default Pulling behavior on acceleration and deceleration

My new to me 2004 GT3 pulls to the left on acceleration and to the right on deceleration. The more acceleration, the more distinctive the pull. This is a cpo car with 8600 miles which I purchased 10 weeks ago. My local dealer repaired some bent rims and performed an alignment but the problem persists. To my knowledge the car has never been wrecked and there is no body work or aftermarket components. The tires are OEM Michelins with no abnormal treadwear pattern and are properly inflated. Under steady throttle on a flat road the car tracks correctly. I am wondering if worn engine mounts or other suspension components are the cause. Any advice would be greatly appreciated before I take the car back to the servicing dealer (MAG in Columbus, OH).

Have you tried swapping rear tires left to right?

This might sound obvious, but I am assuming they checked all fasteners. I had my nut on the rear lower control arm back off a little which caused some very disconcerting body motions as the suspension compressed/decompressed on/off throttle. This particular one is very easy to miss at quick inspection as it's hidden under the shock.

Michelin Tires, do a search.... it has been talked about here. From my experience i'm guessing thats the problem, then 2nd option is the diff, but if its a low mile, untracked car probably not... also that has been discussed too. let me know if you dont have any luck finding the threads

Yes, to the alignment first, if it had bent rims who knows what might have been knocked loose, But this has been done already I believe.......

if the rears are mismatched what so ever they can display the symptoms you describe. not sure if the 295 Michelins are available yet.

DHI and JR are correct !

Rear toe must be uneven, you may want to get your alignment checked in another shop to confirm. It is common for alignment machines to be out of calibration.

Build date on rear tires the same?
I had a "mismatched" set years ago yielding the same symptoms as you.
New tires cured the problem.

My 03 Turbo darted left and right nearly half a lane each way once under hard braking (emergency slow down on the freeway -- I never felt it pull any direction on acceleration but I never really accelerated as hard as I braked that time).

Anyhow, since the behavior was so out of character for this car on a hunch I pulled into a gas station and checked the tire pressure. The right rear was down 5 or so pounds. I inflated it back to its proper pressure but it had a nail in it and it was not repairable (worn to the bars) so I ended up replacing all 4 tires (they were all due).

But you say you have checked the tire pressures, so it must be something else and you've already gotten some good ideas.

Sincerely,

Macster.

The only time I ever experienced that was when I had a tire going down due to a nail.. (assuming that it was working okay before.. i.e., alignment was done, etc.)

Good luck.. !!

Alignment (toe), tires, LSD. Anyone of those could exhibit those symptoms.....
