I can remove the email view. Should I remove the email entry all together? Wasn't sure if this would help people maybe track down previous owners for details on the car, and if that would be a good or bad thing.

Thoughts?

Ok, I fixed it so entering an email address is completely optional. Let me know if you would like me to remove your email from the existing list.

Hmmmm... you pulled my chain.

If you did a search you would know I have my own 'private' data base on the 2004-2005 Porsche 996 GT3 North America Specification fleet. You are correct about the Registry, there isn't one. It takes time, much effort, and most importantly people volunteering accurate information in order to make a valuable Registry.

What is wrong with my color distribution table? It is accurate for the GT3 I have data on by VIN (I said so in the note at bottom of table). Yes, it is incomplete but to my knowledge only Porsche AG would have all of it and they don't release that to the public.

Well, by not accurate I mean it only shows 479 cars for 2004, and 417 for 2005. While it does say Many Many and the bottom for both years, that doesn't offer much clarity.

And I did search. That's how I found your image of the Exterior Color chart.

I also did see that you had a private database, but the last time I saw it was mentioned was over a year ago. I thought it would be nice to have something interactive and public.

Any interest in working with me to host all the info? Or do you have plans for the data?

Not trying to belittle the efforts in acquiring data on 900 cars. That's an awesome feat!

I see we are getting some traction... Let's keep the ball moving and make the information freely available. It is great start! Thanks for the effort Jason. Would be nice to be able to edit listings, only by the owner, of course. Will post a link to my local PCA region to hopefully get additional members. Thanks! Lou

Sounds good.

The site is pretty basic and while adding the edit feature would be nice, I'd have to look into a way to code in an option like that. For now, I'd have to either edit entries manually, or you can submit the info again and shoot me an email to delete a previous entry.

FYI... Just posted in NNJR's web and also on 6speedonline... Hopefully we'll get additional entries once the word starts to spread.

I have a developer looking into how I can make the data sortable to make the info a bit easier to use. Once I get the additional functionality worked out, I can make the layout a little easier on the eyes.

Check out: http://www.autoatlanta.com/life/vin/vin.php?vin=

As this may be a good way to tie options in via utilizing their VIN Database. Isn't there a way to tell the OEM color from the VIN as well?

For 2004 were there only 750 996 GT3s imported to the United States? How many were produced worldwide for 2004?

I've posted up my info. It would be nice to be able to edit the content for updates, color changes, etc...

Good luck with this project. It takes a lot of work and data entry is not fun.

I noted a couple differences in the Registry entries from what I have on record.

...4S692196 I have it as Black, you have Arctic Silver Metallic

...5S692222 I have Speed Yellow, you have Arctic Silver Metallic

Let me know.
