Default Front Grille

I need a protective radiator screen for the front of my car. Does anyone know who makes this and if so how much? Also, is it something that I can just make out of some sort of "mesh" material?

Thanks!

I have the Cargraphic screens on my car. I don't know what they cost new, but got them here from a fellow RL'er who opted not to use them.

Do a search as there are several DIY with pics in this forum.

Just noticed a very recent posting: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-gt2-...-and-pics.html

Be nice if the screens can be lifted up to clean inside vs taking off bumper. Mike

Mike,

I have seen a different approach that allow one to take it off from the outside.. instead of metal wire mesh, I have seen people using a type of foam that's cut to fit the grill shape.. you put it from the outside, stuff it in.. and was told hat air flow through just fine.. (the foam looks pretty thick, maybe up to 1.5-2" thick) And to remove, you simply take it out from outside.. Maybe if you don't want to take the bumper off, this is the way to go..

I have foam inserts on my car. Furnace filter is available at Home Depot. But all of them do not carry it. I had one of by track buddies get it at his local store. One sheet was enough to do front and side rads. The side rad ones are held in place by 2 torx screw built in into the air intake. I added a couple of washers after piercing the foam. They have held up well after a couple of track events. The filter is washable. Just a layer of protection against rocks and track junk.

Foam scares me. Can't say I'm a fan of reducing airflow in there.

Had a problem loading pictures the other day. Will try again later today. No need to worry about temps. Foam is open cell enough for good air flow. A couple of us have been running it with no temp issues. Will load pics later tonight.

Here are some pictures... As you can see, foam is pretty open cell. Using built in screws and additional washers to keep sides in place. Hope this helps... Lou
