FS: 2001 RUF RGT......yummmmm
Yep! She's back on the market - we sold it to the current owner at around 8500 miles....he loved the car, but it's time for something new. SOOOO
2001 RUF RGT, 12,900 miles
REDUCED $68,950 - Porsche/sports car trades welcomed!
This car is one of 17 RGT’s made in 2001. The engine is conservatively rated at 385 and was completely taken apart and machined by RUF before reassembly. It has a RUF integrated rollbar throughout the body. Full documentation; all books and records and 2 sets of keys. Recently serviced (9k miles). Aftermarket Nav/Ipod/Bluetooth/DVD system installed by a Porsche specialty shop. Front bumper repainted for stone chips and clearbra applied. Car is fantastic to drive and in excellent condition - needs nothing. The RGT is equipped with a RUF 3.6 Liter flat six producing 385HP. This dry sump engine was derived from the European version of the GT3 and was not available in the US until 2004. This is a genuine RUF-built car with a RUF VIN#, not a modified or converted 911.

Is this built on the GT3 chassis? Just curious if it's seam or spot welded.
Also, what kind of challenges will one find in registering such a vehicle? I know a customer with an original CTR and he has a hell of a hard time smogging the car.
Beautiful vehicle.... and not much more than a stock GT3!

It is based on the Mk1 GT3. I have an Estoril Blue one. It is a great car to drive, and the integrated roll cage is a big plus.
Registering and insuring it in Texas was as simple as a regular car.

Here is a great write-up by PRANQSTER. I believe he was the first owner of the Yellow RGT for sale.
"My car was a car that was manufactured and imported as a US vehicle. Should be the same as what you are looking at. A vehicle made in Germany for the US market. As far as whether it is worth $105K. It really depends on what you are after.
The RUF cars really are hand built to a different standard than my 04 GT3 or my RS. The RGT looks much better in person than my 04GT3, drives better on the road and is faster around the track. I am not sure how or why it is faster, but it is. My GT3 is able to chase down a lot of high horsepower cars, even on the straights so I do not think the RGT is faster due to the horsepower being down on my GT3. The RS is faster than the RGT at the track.
You would own a vehicle that is one of a very few. Some people say that the RUF should hold up price wise better but that would not be a reason to buy in my opinion. No one really knows whether the market will hold up or not. There is just not enough product to gauge whether someone will want a 2001 RGT for $XXX,XXX.00 in the future.
Would I buy the RGT again, yes I would.
Would I buy the RGTover my 04GT3 (for what I paid for the RGT versus the MSRP of my GT3), Yes. Would I buy the RGT instead of my RS, no.
Would I buy the RGT at a delta of 30 to 40k more than a 04GT3, no.
Would I buy the RGT for 20k less than a 997GT3, yes.
Would I buy the RGT for the same price as a 997GT3 with Euro seats, harnesses, rollbar, suspension set up for the track, etc. Possibly, if the engine in the RGT you are looking at is as strong as the one in my RGT, I would consider it.
Would I pay more right now for the RGT than a 997GT3 with Euro seats, harnesses, rollbar, suspension set up for the track, etc. No. "

Yes, rear seats from the RUF factory.
I'd be happy to take the GT3 on trade for the "family car"!
