Textar pads for GT3 MkII
Hi all,
I know that there are as many opinions out there about pads as there are drivers so to make this easier I have a question about a specific pad - the Textar 2313901. I would like to know if anyone has tested them and if so what are your thoughts?
My car is used mainly for regular street driving but I will take a trip to Nürnburgring this fall and if I fit Textars I wouldn't like to be surprised on the track. As far as I know it is Textars fitted from factory but someone said on another forum that the Textar ones differ from the Porsche ones and not only in price. (Textars are one third of the Porsche ones here in Sweden). I could live with slight lesser brake force or squeeking but is there a risk of overheating? Mind you, I am not an experienced racer.
Thanks
Stefan

Funny you should bring up Textar pads 2313901. They are the WRONG pad for a GT3. They are way too small - 140mm long. Your GT3 takes 190mm pads, these will NOT FIT. How do I know? I tried going this exact same route. I had a set of Pagid race pads, and we're using the car for street, so I ordered a set of these Textar pads. When they got here, I realized they had no chance of fitting. I'm now told by the vendor I bought them from that Textar has them wrong in their catalog. From everything I could find, Textar does not make a 190mm pad.
These are the Pagid pads that were on the car when I got it: http://www.pagidracing.com/brakes/2707.html 190 mm wide.
Which comes from this page: http://www.pagidracing.com/car.html#porsche
What I ordered was Textar 23139 170 0 4
If you go to the Textar site here: http://www.textar.com/en/products-mainmenu-29 and click on the online catalog on the right, and go through the choices to a 996 GT3, you get to the Brake pad set, which is exactly 23139 170 0 4 for the front: 140 mm wide
From everything I could find, nobody makes an aftermarket FRONT street pad for a GT3. I ended up ordering a set from Porsche. Interestingly...they are from Pagid...
Just for comparison, here are pictures of both:

really appriciate all your effort. Thanks ever so much. So back to square one, but with all the info I need. So Pagid or Original then?
All the best

If you look at the Service Information manual, it says the street pads are "Pagid P90..., painted yellow".They are not "Pagid Yellows" as we refer to them in race context, they are Pagid street pads, painted yellow. Big difference.

Former Vendor
Yes, OEM pads are Yellow...in color. Not a great choice for track days ;-)
Those Textars look like the early GT3 front pads...prior to 2004 ... the ROW small braked GT3s.

the textar pads pictured are the replacement for the 996TT, same #, just replaced them today. good feedback from those who have used them. not sure about any fitments made by them for the gt3, however.

I believe the street pads that came with my GT3 are the Textars, but they are the same size as the Pagid yellows I swapped them. They worked well on the street. Haven't seen them in a bit, though...only yellows in the brakes now.
