996 GT3 v 997 GT3 Forum Viewing
For some reason i started to look at the number of people that are on the 2 forums noted in the title. I usually glance at it when i log in to RL. The number of RL'rs on the 997 GT3 forum is usually 4 plus times the number of us on the 996 GT3 forum.
I wonder what the numbers used to be? Have they changed? What happen to all of us?
Or is the imbalance due to the well known fact that 997 GT3 owners have no life and they spend way, way too much time on RL as their cars are not nearly as much fun to drive as the 996 GT3?

i reckon, the 997 thread variant get's more viewers due to the greater volume of people who have recently bought or are looking to buy a new car. also add on dealers, speculators, teenagers, tuners, tweakers, testdrivers.
996 thread attracts all the old-school people, hustlers, addicts, air-cooled defectors, geeks...
the fully sick ones mitigate to both forums.

And the Mk1s were not brought to US... The entire population of 6.2 GT3s produced is not that large...
Back when the 6.2 came out (2004), everyone posted under the 996 forum. We pushed John hard to create a special "GT3" forum which was moderated by a guy named "viken". You should search some of his posts - the guy new his stuff! Back then, the GT3 forum was packed with people like Bob Roleau, Mooty, Watt, Colm, LVDell and the list goes on... Once the 997.1 "3" came out, everyone sold their 6s and moved to the new "997 GT3" board....
I've been reading Rennlist since 1997, but didn't join until 2002. A lot has changed over the years. The search function rocks though! One hello of a database of great stuff! Keep it coming... great community.

roleau and mooty still here.
colm is around, he just doesn't post much.
and some blake guy is still here too
996 is not as friendly as 7 on the street. that's one reason many moved to 7 and another would be the aesthetics of the 6. some ppl dont like it. i dont. but i like how it drives. and of course there are 4 variants, soon to be 5 7gtx variants, so total production number is much higher thus more RL.

No, but Patron makes a stop at Mosport during the ALMS in July.
Also, IMSA is apparently planning a foray into Canada in 2011
