Nitto's runnning short?
Just placed an order for 245/40 18's and 315/30 18's with http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/tires/nitto/home.do
The availability online did not match what the sales rep said. He told me I got the last two fronts in the country.
We seem to go through this every year one way or the other but whomever you buy from or believe, the availability may be getting tight.
Just a heads up.

Pretty funny. I and a number of my friends have been told many times "you got the last two in the country or area." I don't know if they are trying to make me feel good about my tires or whether they constantly have supply issues, but it's amusing all the same.

Like I said, depends who you believe. There is a Japanese connection from Toyo so who knows.
The availability shown when I clicked on the specific tire was low and I think it was actually out for the rears.
So, I called to be sure.
The sales (accent on "sales") guy basically said the reverse, "my" fronts were the last two they had in any of the three wharehouses and that they DID have some rears.
It is all a guessing game but I'd hate to have waited another week to find out.
Another possible pice of bs was him saying if I ordered them online the process takes three hours and they might have had to backorder.
He put the order in as we spoke.
He probably gets a sale credit too.
Whatever, just passing along the info.
One more thing, Onlinetires.com was cheaper but you pay shipping. Discounttire.com was a bit more but free shipping.
They were within $5 of each other in the end.

Not because shipping to Canada is complicated... It's not AT ALL.
There's a distribution agreement that DiscountTires must observe VS a Canadian distributor that appears to choose to ignore retail price adjustment with currency parity. Nittos here are 50% more expensive here.
