Default Raining too much at the track = needing a CF Roof

Rained like hell this weekend at the track.... So much so that it caused my EZ-UP to collapse on my GT3... Why couldn't the F..ing Tent fall on the Race Car instead!

Regardless I think I'm going to replace the roof with a CF one as I think it'll look good on the car... Any suggestions?

1. I want to make sure I can have my headliner still
2. I want the most street-able brand.. This is truly for look weight is a plus..
3. Who makes one? Anyone have pictures of a 6GT3 with one?

PJ you may want to look away..

Ouch! I'm in Charlotte and it was rough out there today!

Funny - been looking at CF body panels and seems most everyone makes a CF roof, unfortunately I don't know if you can keep the headliner. Here are a few I found - GMG, Mashaw, Getty Design.

Hopefully it can buff out but next time use sand bags and and put a moving tarp(soak it it'll stay on a windy day) over roof. Mike

if you want CF for wt saving, it saves very little. the wt is the liner not the skin.

if you want it for look, forget it. non of the US brands have nice enough pattern that u want to leave it exposed.

i think manthey/cargraphic "may" have something. SLOW would know. those probably nice enough to leave naked.

Jim from Speedmerchants has a CF roof on the green PDK race car that looks really, really nice.
I would be a bit worried about cutting out the roof on my car though...kind of non-reversible.

Well now you know why the Gauls and Asterix had only one fear, that the sky may fall on their heads.. : )

I am sorry about this Dave..

I have seen one 6GT3 with a visible carbon roof but it's not my cup of tea..
The weight savings if you retain the interior are about 5-7 pounds IIRC.
I would certainly do a painted carbon roof in a sun roof equipped car but on a regular undamaged GT3 I am not so sure.

I don't know the current pricing for a carbon roof and labor and if it's worth it, I guess that you can judge that better depending on what other weight saving mods you have or what your budget is. But in order to make it fit correctly you have to note that it is tricky as spot welding is out of the question and the proper shape curvature of the roof is important for the final outcome..

3 years ago when I researched about it a quality carbon roof was quite expensive.

Hope you solve this issue quickly.

Default Carbon Fiber by 3M

Dave,

I have some scratches on my hood that I will be covering with 3M's CF film:

Put one on a customer 996TT from Getty Design. Fit was flawless and looks nice. Nothing stop headliner from going back in although kind of obvious but this was left out.

^^^ Bob do you recall the cost??

Also was it a shiny finish similar to the RS Wing??

Q&A
Yellow Headlight Armor brand headlight film..
I think it looks sinister too...

I think a Carbon Roof would look good on it...
