Just read up on settings. THere is a good GoPro HD Forum that discusses. But it looks like R3 is the best setting for inside the car. r5 you can get "jello" effect.
Use Center if you want to see the dash - but outside will be a little washed out.
Use Spot if you want to see the track - but your dash will be blacked out (can still see passengers fine).
I am trying to make the arm on the suction cup as short as possible to minimize bouncing.

Every once in a while I can hear the camera rattling on the recording. I cannot see how anything is moving inside. ANyone got any idea how to fix this? I thought it was the case hitting the windshield, but that is not it.
I read one post where someone put something over the shutter button.
Any ideas?

I've used the camera twice, over regular roadways. Little to no bounce over some pretty rough roads. Should be more than OK on a smooth track.

I use the open back. Yes it is closed properly...this happens on several of my vids...even my test run yesterday.

Mike, do you use any overlay software? I use the Dashware product by AIM and sync GoPro and Traqmate very easily within the software.

I had a similar sound on my recordings. I eliminated all the camera base extensions and tightened the last screw very hard. The noise (from creaking plastic) went away.

Have you had good results manually syncing the video and data overlay with Dashware?

It's very easy and straightforward. But as Scott said, I haven't posted anything yet ![surrender](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/surrender.gif)
re: lanc. All the lanc really does is start up the camera remotely. You will still have to upload the video file and the data file to an overlay program like Dashware anyway so there is really not an advantage to using a lanc based camera.

As a quick alternate option to the HDGP (I think the interface is the suck) the Contour HD is available at Amazon for ~$139; I'm going to give it a try for in-car driver footage.

Anyway, Dashware looks like it has a lot of good features. Did you consider Traqstudio? I'm assuming Traqstudio would understand the Traqmate data format natively, where Dashware might require some reformatting of the Traqmate CSV file to get the data mapping right.
Looking forward to seeing those vids....
