996 GT3 shop manual options
I'm looking for a set of 996 GT3 shop manuals -- for the real nitty gritty on the mechanics and electrics of the car. i know that Pelican sells the whole set of 16 volumes for all 996s (including the GT3, but excluding turbos) for $500. I'm sure that many of those volumes relate to engines, transmissions, and other systems that not part of the GT3. Can only those binders that apply to the GT3 be obtained somehow? Does anyone have any other alternatives to this huge and expensive set of binders? I'm sure there may be bootleg copies on CD, but are there any legitimate copies, preferably for cheaper than the paper set?

Porsche stopped printing the manuals sometime ago so people can't find them scan them and post them around; workshop manuals for some time now are implemented in the PIWIS in electronic form.
If you decide to buy from Porsche you won't receive the printed material either but an electronic form of them. Plus you can just buy the chapter you are interested in.
They are great to have and very helpful if you decide to work on your car.
here is a link with prices:

PS. I don’t like this money making policy, and overprotection from independent Porsche specialists from Porsche’s side, and I believe that the workshops manuals should be free and given to the owner at the time of purchase.

I was going to comment about this following a visit to Pelican Parts this pm. Although price right now is $395? http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/911W_main.htm
I am very tempted.
Also wondering where I can find part numbers for P Motorsports parts...

For now, I need the rear upper control arms.
I've had the car since Dec. It has full cup suspension (including sub-frames) but missing the solid control arms (long story).
I think that first gen Cups might have been rubber-jointed v. the later solids, so I need the latter. Car is 05 996 GT3.
Just want to poke around to see what's out there. Think I might be looking at ~$1,200 for 4. For now, I would rather stick with OEM.
Thanks,

Well it goes like this, the only real difference between the GT3 and the GT3 cup suspensions is really the struts/shocks/springs and the lower two peice lower control arms. The uppers still have the rubber ends. If you want the solid ends then you are talking GT3R or RSR links, they have the steel ball ends. It looks like you already have the adjustable toe links which were an option on the cups from the RSR.
Well John beat me too it but there you go, look for the two peice lower arms #2&3 in the diagram. You already have the dampers so you have basically a standard cup suspension. If you want the RSR/GTR bits they are pricey from PMNA and harder to come by, but you can go to Tarrett industries, they make heim jointed upper links and caster arms #15, cheaper than factory and great quality.
