Great find, and I totally agree with the premise of the article that the 996 GT2/GT3 is becoming a classic.

As I have said many times before, Porsche will never again make such a pure automobile. Heck, I don't think anyone will as it might simply not be allowed in this litigious world.

One underlying point in this thread: It will be very interesting to see the "cross over" line in value/price between the 996 and 997 GT2s. Already, we have both of these at the "same" price: The 6 offered by turbobooost, and the 7 posted by myself, and found from just a quick search on cars.com...

So given similar conditions (mileage, etc.), which one would you guys choose?

That cannot be a valid ad.

Got mine for about 1 1/2 years. Most fun I ever had (with my close on).

I bought my red 6GT2 in the US with 10500 miles in December 2009. Imported it into Switzerland and am driving it on the road since April 2010. Bought it for USD 76.5 from a Porsche Dealer - it came with a two year Porsche Approved plan. I get the impression that prices today are already higher.
It was a standard car and I just added a Gemballa exhaust and a Bmc air-filter (sounds quite a bit better now) - oh and a set of decent Focal speakers.
I love every minute driving it on the street - performance is overwhelming and I feel special every time I use it. It was absolutly without problems so far.
Point is - it is a little hard on roads that are not perfect - street performance would be better with a softer setup. The damping rates can not be changed.
Any hints for good street setup (don't want to change springs/dampers)?
Enjoy
Hans

Thanks for the replies. Still looking at a few cars, but nothing concrete. Need to move my Cayenne Turbo, but am really getting shafted on trade-in #'s.

GT2's are a great road car... can't beat the instant acceleration rush- got to make sure you are paying attention, though! a bit pesky in the wet, but awesome in the dry. the tires have to be warmed up before really getting into the throttle. a keeper car for me..

The way they jump all over the road when your foot is on the floor it feels like 600 hp !!! What an ANIMAL !!!! With the original list around $200k and now for sale for way under a $90k,these could be the "BEST" value Porsche on the market today if you want a STREET race car !!!

Anyone see the thread about a year ago by a RL member, got a call from his Porsche dealer about a 6GT2 they had just taken in? He ended up buying this perfect 6GT2 for something in the high 50's I think I recall. That was the best used Porsche deal from a dealer in a long, long time!

GL with your search. (but you'll never have THAT good of luck!)

^ I'm trying really hard, but I just can't find it. I do remember it, and it was a killer deal.

That was me - I bought it for a little over $65k + $2k for CPO. They were going to wholesale the car so they gave me the opportunity to buy the car at wholesale if it was a quick cash transaction. I've been a good customer for a while, so they call me when cars like this pop up.

It's a 2004 (only 24 produced + the extra HP of 483 v. 462 + the awesome GT3 style wheels) with 17.9k miles when I bought it, just over 19k now.

I was very lucky and grateful to get the car.
