PerformanceBox is very easy. Suction cup to windscreen of any of your cars, turn on, drive.

It's pretty good so far (other than my crappy install).

true.
And the new firmware update adds predictive lap timing

You do have to set the start/finish point. But only once, it remembers after that.

You can set the start/finish before or after your event. Or you can set it during your lap by simply hitting a button.

Or.......with something like Traqmate (and I'm sure others) you get the S/F from somebody that already has it and enter it into the system before you even leave to the track!

Come on John! If we didn't start the car for you it would never get to the line

sure i can do that. BUT WHY IS IT THAT THE MANUFACTURER JUST DO IT. MEMORY IS CHEAP. EVERY FKG TRACK SHOULD BE ON THERE.

i like cars, so i put up with starting it up when i need to drive it. i dont like half a**'d product. it's like buying an AC, but i have to add freeon.

i had tracmate.
i decided my brain power is better utilized elsewhere. so after pressing about 3 buttons, i sold it.

The AIM SmartyCam setup can be a little finicky, but once you get it set, its great. They have a couple hundred tracks in their dB....

Again, for the OP, a GPS-based laptimer (video included)

I'm still using a longacre hot lap timer...it was a hand-me-down. Don't have a beacon so no laptimes if someone else doesn't set it up. A couple times I put numbers on quarter window over where receiver is. Oops, no laptimes.

I'll be looking into a GPS based unit this year.
