The Clubsport had a LWFW and the usual interior options: recaros, cage, fire ext, battery cutoff switch, and 6pts ...

The car was significantly quicker and more nimble than just about anything else on the road, with a few exceptions (much more expensive too) that do not immediately spring to mind. This I think is what made it SO special ... it was just amazingly f***ingly good! - not just the engine, but the ridigity of the chassis and its amazing handling!

The only flaw(*) in the old girl was her front anchors ... the TT 4 pot calipers and 350mm rotors were not up to the task of sprited track driving; even with SRF or similar and some decent track pads the car quickly overwhelmed the front braking system ... but ... you were driving like a madman compared to
anything else out there, perhaps with the exception of a Caterham ...

The steering and suspension were precise, if a little "skittish" at the limit but razor sharp ... it, like the mkII following it (and the RS) are a scalpel ... use it right, you can perform miracles, but in the wrong
hands it can be dangerous.

I took the CS to the Nordschleife in August of 2001 for the 1st time, what a blast, way too much car for a Ring newbie ... but the ideal ride for the ring ... still makes me smile!

here is my car, my 1st GT3!

(*) there was a problem with a couple of cooling hoses that split under pressure on track!

Thanks Larry for accepting the invitation

Btw do you remember the french magazine that did one of the first tests and they ended up chasing a Lambo at speeds over 300klm and the Lambo driver was like wtf is that? Epic I ll try to find my scanned copy somewhere.

I too remember what it was like on trackdays when people started turning up in these. I had a little lotus Elise and couldn't believe the pace these things rocketed past. Then I got a noble, which was fun when it worked. Finally, just after I got married I got the 6RS. I beat my wife into submission by talking about it non stop whilst on honeymoon - the dealer had called me to offer me the car I now have whilst we were in Brazil and I couldn't stop looking at it on the web on the hotel internet terminal, even though it was 20k GBP over budget and not a standard 6GT3 mk2 like I'd registered interest in!
Dan you haven't told me this part of the story!

Now people want to know how you make her accept the mods. : )

And since we are in honeymoon mode here is a romantic picture of a my babies mating under the moonlight.

PS. Dan post a pic of RS so we have in this page all of them.

PS. I could never irreversibly mod a mk1 or a 6RS too special..

+400.
the 6rs is my absolute favourite car of all time. for me, there is nothing better.
i knew just by sitting in one. man, it is the business.
the o.g. 6.1 to me, is the best balanced of all, but the rs is just an animal. no compromise whatsoever.
a way of thinking that porsche has since lost.

happy times
ouch. Did you bend it at Oulton? If not then it doesn't count as a major off in my book! Has claimed a few GT3s that place.

Sorry guys I don't have any pictures...

As to the mods, my wife appreciates they are all safety related.

These are some very early pics from when the car only had 3k miles on it. It has 25k now, and sits lower + meaner. Condition is still very good as I had a lot of paint tidied last year.

Sorry no videos. Never had much luck with recording equip in the car.

The rotors are alcons. The ceramics came off at 4k miles and were already showing wear. Porsche were complete dicks over the ceramic rotors after all their advertising of glowing red disks and bragging about longevity! Also the finish on the wheels was rubbish and spidered on every single one I know of!

I think they are beginning to look a bit more classic as opposed to dated now...

dan - great pics, thank you.
alcons are great brakes, much more efficient solution than pccbs.
you're right, it's definitely coming of age now. we only got about 14 delivered to australia, and they usually go for around $180k, which is about a $40k premium over the std model. most are white/red. this is the model i would like one day, it will do me.
are they still hovering around the 60k pounds in blighty? cheap considering the 993 and 964 are over 100k now. i think it has hit the bottom of the curve and can only go up from here.

Photos are beautiful car is gorgeous. And since I haven't told for quite a while, DON'T EVER SELL IT!

Now if it only had the steering wheel in the right place..

Nope ... It was my own fault I decided to pass a 944 before Island, he did not lift during my pass so I had no room or time to get back over to the right and slow before the corner so I deliberately drove off ... The grass was wet so I slid a long way ... Tore the front spoiler off thatsabout it thankfully!
