Unfortunately, I couldn't get one in '04 when they came out, the dealership here had a waiting list & I hadn't bought a new Porsche from them since '00, so I was too far down the list. I bought this one in February '06 from the original owner who had a 996 turbo, a Ferrari, M5, & a few other cars-- another enthusiast with too many toys! He couldn't get one in California either, but, he knew someone at Champion Motorsports in FL who somehow had an allocation slot open so he ordered it there. I have all the paperwork from the transaction, the certificate authenticity, etc. As you can tell from the option list, it has a lot of leather, carbon door sills, carbon shifter & brake, aluminum dials, etc... Probably overloaded for a track car, but nice for a street car.

ohhh yes. This guy spent some money on an interior. $7260 on leather stuff... $5545 on more interior enhancements... And $780 on some carbon sils. $13585 just on the interior. Luv that. I am telling a buddy who's looking. This would be nice for him.

The option prices are ridiculous, that's for sure. The thicker steering wheel was a $675.00 option. It's something like 2mm thicker. Does that really cost more than the standard wheel????? I've had both, and it is a nice wheel to be sure, but certainly doesn't cost Porsche any extra over the standard wheel, I'm sure.

My pal sold his Lotus this week (he bought it last month, in hopes of liking it VS a GT3... He did not). He will be GT3 shopping (again) next week.

fortunately, it's easy enough to bring the performance up to S260 levels. But, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet....lots of moving parts in my life at the moment, trying to simplify a bit. My wife doesn't want me to sell any cars, but just too much stuff! (She's keeping her Boxster, of course...)

I have seen you flirt with selling this beauty a couple times and here is to hoping a smart buyer recognizes the value
it's a peach!

yeah, don't really want to sell it, I love the car-- fortunately, it's not a money problem like many are facing these days. I've been retired for 3 years, my wife is retiring at the end of this year & we will probably spend more time at our house in Palm Springs. I don't need 5 cars & 4 motorcycles, 2 houses, etc, etc,. just too much to keep maintained to sit in the garage.

i am thinking of getting a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th job so i can tune her out....

I'm very fortunate in that regard.... after almost 28 years together, my wife & I still like hanging out together! She likes cars too, she's not happy I'm selling the GT3. We took the Lotus racing school together in Pahrump, NV, it was a hoot & she did well!
