I had Fabspeed mufflers on my '99 996C2, they would not fit on my '04 GT3. Fabspeed assured me they would, but, there was no way they were going to line up with the mounts without some force/bending, which I didn't want to do.

What Fabspeed said something inaccurate? This is a first. : )
They won't fit properly on a non GT3 even if you put the clamps on the cats side the tips won't line up with the bumper.
If you look at the Ruf's description it's other part number for gt3 and other for carrera.

Check with RJFabcab on this, I'm quite sure he used his fabspeed cans on the GT3.
