Default 997 GT3 shifter vs short shifter

I have an 996 C4S with the 996 OEM short shifter, and am considering upgrading to the 997 GT3 shifter or the 997 short shifter.

I would appreciate any views as to the smoothness and shortness of the GT3 shifter vs the 997 short shifter (is the GT3 version any shorter than the standard 997 shifter, or does it just have aluminum rather than plastic bushings?).

Also, has anyone used the billet shift linkage in replacement of the OEM plastic linkage? Would appreciate any views on that upgrade as well, including notchiness, reducing any sloppiness in the shifter, etc.

Thanks!

for a C4S, the B&M shifter is a nice upgrade, shorter throw than the GT3 shifter, and much cheaper than the 997 SSK. Best bang for the buck, IMO.

I loved the B&M in my C4S; LOVED IT. Hated it in the GT3 (link)

Hummm... and I just happen to have a brand new / never installed B&M SSK that I originally bought for my 996 GT3, but then decided not to install:

I paid $75 + shipping and I will gladly sell it for less to you if interested !

Actually, I have the OEM 996 short shifter (varying views as to whether it is the same as the B&M or had some plug and play features added] -- am considering going to the 997 GT shifter.
