Default Why is the cup shifter so much better?

I had the 997 SSK swapped with the cup shifter and cables.
The cup shifter is perfect in its function but more noise is added to the cabin.
Why is the cup shifter so much better? Is it the geometry of the cup shifter assembly, the stiffer cables or the elimination of the rubber bushings.

I don't have the answer but if I ever meet you at the track, I'd love to just sit in your car and feel the shifter to see how different it is compared to stock.. !!

^driven mooty's stripper with cup cables- smooth as butter- no vagueness in shifts. Me believes it's the attachment points and the thicker cable that's negates ne flexing when shifting. Great mod for the track ****** : ). Mike

I am trying to fit in a late event at Lime Rock. If not, we are only 45 minutes away.

I have it. it's wonderful. Like a rifle bolt.

Its because there's no flexing anywhere. But it's stronger as there is no plastic or rubber in the assembly

No, 4th is smooth. The only scary bit is that every shift is effortless - but that puts the money shift in play as well.
The saying, "Be careful what you wish for" comes to mind.
