12 Hours Labor Replace Cam Solenoid/Tensioner?
To replace this VarioCam Solenoid/Tensioner my aftermarket warranty co "Warranty Direct" will only allow 6 hours of labor. My repair shop says its not possible and they need 12 hours to drop the engine and replace. The problem is a small oil leak from the top of the solenoid. Has anyone had this replaced and what was your cost. Looks like a $2,000 job for a $200.00
part. You can see the part from the top of the engine compartment looking down it's on the left side and you can almost get your hand to it.

Commonly if there is a discrepancy between an aftermarket warranty companies assumed stated labor time and the actual time (and that is common) the customer will just pay the difference.

I've never had this work done and don't know anyone who has so I can't say if 12 hours is too high or 6 hours to low a time estimate.
Sincerely,
Macster.
