Nice!!! How much and how much reduction? If like 997GT3 no problem but 30-40%- way to close. Mike

10 percent shorter then 6. More precise and gated but will be way better with cup cables which I plan to do later. At $200 or so dollars not much money to change out. Mike

I remember reading that the Cup cables are pretty expensive, like $1,000 or something?! :O

cfjan, that is "one porsche unit" or otherwise known as "one thousand dollars", hee, hee.

I did the Cup shifter and cables at the same time and really noticed the difference.
The swap was "not much fun" due to the tunnel, however well worth it.

The shifter Gordon posted up, looks super cool!

The problem with the stock 996 unit is, the plastic parts used in the wrong places and the Cup shifter solves that problem.
Looks like the one Gordon posted up solves that problem too.

Plus Roberga's nifty pic raises up the shifter which I like alot : ) but that looks like $$$ to me plus cup cables. The stock box can be raised via spacers which I've seen on cupcars. Mike

How does the Cup shifter compare to the 7GT3 shifter?

I'm following this thread closely as I do think that one of the things that our cars can improve upon is the shifter. I drove my friend's S2000 and that's magic.. ! I would pay a couple of thousand dollars to have that in the 6GT3! (Light, short throw, very positive engagement, etc.)

no pix, but i will have cup shifter and cable.
i bought the last new cup shifter in USA, but i am sure there are plenty aboard mothership in germany.
no idea what if feels like, but when i drove cup cars last, it felt good.

VA122 also has cup stuff. he had it for awhile so he might have some pix.

The only reason I posted this is I never compared the 6 box vs 7 box together til I looked at it and 7 looks much stouter. What's the icing on the cake the 6gt3 shifter box has 1st 3 digits- 986... part no-wtf? 7 part no is 997 : (. Mike

This is a pic of a 6gt3 cupcar with shifter box- looks like stock gt3 box- all plastic and all- the cables is the mostly likely improvement on the shifter feel. See the spacers to raise up the box? Whom can I purchase those spacers- definitely cheaper. Mike
