first owner: 6 years, 3600 miles

me: 6 weeks, 2k miles, 5 track days including three in a row (2 at Gateway and 1 at Autobahn).

only mods I've done are track rims/tires....so far

only problem (at least during my brief watch) has been an alternator that crapped out the 2nd week I owned it, replaced under CPO.

great car.....

First owner, good friend, 82k miles, 50+ track days, daily driver.
I purchased last July and have rebuilt diff, installed Cup flywheel, fan belt, rebuilt axles, replaced 2nd-5th gear synchros (only a couple were really needed), replaced factory mufflers w/used from a lower mileage car. Driver's window auto-down feauture currently wonky. Front trim of cupholder broken. Unfortunately, only 4-5 track days since purchase.

Hands down, the best car I've ever owned and plan to keep it unitl my friend puts 80k on his 2010 RS so I can afford to buy that one too.

52,000 miles on the clock. I bought it used at 46K. The car came through an auction and had seen track time. Switched to steel for the brakes and installed seats, 5 point harnesses & a DAS roll bar. 11 track days in 09. A head gasket went at the last event in late October 09. I had the engine torn down, replaced a bad valve guide, bearings, piston rings, RMS and clutch. The work took most of the winter. The fellow who did the work maintains several cup cars which helped in getting parts. Rings were an issue for a couple of weeks until they figured out the car had cup pistons. The best guess is the factory ran out of stock pistons the day car was built. Cam timing was an issue until they figured out the "U.S. settings" were actually the Euro specs.
Never on a Dyno but after 7 track days this year the engine is definitely stronger.

Relatively short ownership thus far for me... PO had the diff replaced at ~ 17K (CPO)

I bought it with 18K on the car in Feb. 2010. I turned 20K at Mid Ohio last weekend. Just dropped it off at the Dealer because the gas gauge stopped working at the track.. probably because I burned through so much.. 2 Days 530 track miles!

Absolutely love the car!

Mine lives in a comfortable garage in San Diego county..... CCW wheels, a Europipe exhaust, & a 997GT3 shifter are the only mods. 9600 miles--lots of oil changes to replace old new oil with new new oil. I drive it to the grocery store once in awhile. It keeps my Lotus and Boxster company!

It's a shame, I know.... but, too many toys & all take time.

No problems, of course, but I think even a Yugo can go 9600 miles with no problems.....

rear speed sensor failure. 2 corded tires. ABS/Failure. Light switch malfunction. Other than that - just replaceables. Unbelievable. AC, heat, and radio still working. 7500 track miles.

These cars are great. Sometimes I wonder if I hang out here more than the 964 forum.

STEVE B, I was on the way to my Aunts house and I saw your neighbor's white 7 gt3. I would love to drop by one day and check your ride(s) out Or maybe I'll run into when you drive your 6 to the grocery store, haha. Your car is looking great!

His 7GT3 is nice, to be sure. He used to have a 6GT3 as well. Personally, as much as I like the 7, I didn't like it enough to want to spend the $$ on the trade, it just didn't make sense to me. I bought the Lotus instead... lol.

13500 miles, and purchased in 2006 with 5000 miles. RMS leak fixed within first 6 months of "new" by first owner, water pump failed at 6000 miles, and coolant hoses blew on a 110 degree track day. Rear tires would cord on the inside until track alignment was figured out - now get solid 5 track days per set of Michelin Cups (even wear).

26 track days (dedicated track car) between 2006-2008, then put it into a wall backwards at 80mph in July 2008. Car was recently fixed (May 2010) and drives like a champ. Will play this summer as a weekend car, then convert back this winter for full time track use in 2011...

Most fun Porsche that I have ever owned, though my 964 Speedster has been the most reliable CAR that I have ever owned. That car is build like a tank.

Dell, I for one, can testify to the fact that your GT3 could not have fell into better hands. Joe is all about that car, drives the living **** out of it and does it WELL. Even with his full face Stand21 on, you can see his smile when drives it from the other side of the track!

Nothing makes me feel better about my decision (which I still regret to this day) knowing that the car went to somebody that has as much passion for that car as I do. That is what keeps me going every day. That, and hoping the day comes Joe wants to sell her back

Just bought my pop's 04 GT3 with 72,000+ miles. Looked through the file at the receipts. Other than oil changes and basic service, the starter was replaced when the car had about 200 miles on it (obviously a faulty part from new), and the GT3 badge on the engine cover had to be replaced because it didn't adhere well. Also had one window regulator replaced.

That's it. The car wasn't tracked and is still on its original brake pads/rotors.

Everything works, the a/c blows cold on hot days, and the motor pulls like it was new. I'm sure the LSD needs to be done, though.

45,000Km clocked bought the car when it had just under 14,000Km. So far I have had to replace the oil pressure sensor and the MAF sensor, both under warranty. The diff clutch is about ready to go and I am having problems with my windshield and/or headlight washer pumps! Otherwise the car has been flawless to this point.

I just posted this message and found my Rennlist membership has changed from Addict to New User. I know I haven't posted in quite awhile but does that mean I lose my Rennlist status?
