Default Disconnecting battery problems

Does anyone know how to disable the alarm so I can disconnect the battery to take it out to charge (on a 996GT3RS?)

Everytime i undo the battery terminals the alarm goes off?

Thanks

Do you have an aftermarket alarm installed? I've removed my battery a couple of times and I haven't encountered that issue.

Maybe I'm not interpreting this right- u say as soon as u take teminals off from
battery the alarm sounds(if stock no way it'll trigger alarm- there's
no power after taking out battery) If u don't have an extra battery or like above said an aftermarket alarm system with dedicated battery- it ain't going to happen. If aftermarket find the battery and disconnect the line to it. Also why not
run a trickle charger via cig liter wo charging battery unless car is in a parking lot. Mike

Yes thats correct, as soon as i remove the battery terminals the alarms goes off. Its a standard Porsche alarm. There is also a tracker fitted.

Is there a battery backup for the alarm? maybe thats setting it off?

I cant run a trickle charger as there are no power sockets in the parking area

Tracker is probably the source of another battery. I have a quick disconnect on my battery and I pull the key off all the time and it never triggers the alarm. Mike

alarm has its own battery, reason its activated is 'cause you removed the key before disconnecting battery, leave the key in ignition and try again.

I never put key into ignition when I disconnect battery and it never triggers the alarm. I believe your tracker has a battery source that's tied to the alarm in case someone wants to cut the power off so alarm won't go off and they can tow/steal your car. Mike

don't know what else to suggest, my 6 GT3 has no tracker and key needs to be in place, not turned to any position just in, then I can disconnect. weird

Hmm, not sure why a 6GT3 would need an alarm, let alone after market.
At the track my key was always sitting in the console.

Unless this is a D.D for you and you park on the street, who's going to take it, unless it is another guy at the track?
(a slower guy, a guy you made look silly for bringing a British car that broke down 3 laps in).
It is all coming together now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditch the alarm and use a float charger for long term storage.

Default Alarm while removing battery

Before removing the battery put the key in the ignition, turn on ignition, leave the ignition on while removing battery terminal.

;-))
