to be honest, damn hard to complain about that trio. i mean, maybe a 4.0 but i'd still be content with the three above.

I like all of them LOL and wouldn't kick any one of them out of my garage. But there is just something charismatic about these "lowly" 996's. Have you ever driven one back to back with one of the 3.8 gt3's? I have, including a 997.2rs. Every time I do they just don't feel as "lively" or "playful" (and I'm not just saying that because I have a 996 gt3). I could have bought one long ago but there is just something magic about the way the 3.6 revs, turns, and builds power (especially with a few careful mods and some weight reduction), and when you add in the additional cost to "upgrade" up the mezger food chain, it just never made sense (for me, who could care less about "status" or having the latest and greatest). With that said, unless I come across some crazy good deal or barn find on something else, I'm pretty sure my next "fun" car will need to be a 997 gt2. Low production numbers, can be 620hp (safely) with just a few mods (software, ic's, exhaust), and would be a perfect compliment to my high revving normally-aspirated car and provide a sufficiently different driving experience that I can justify devoting precious garage space to one!
