Default GT3 for track duty?

I've been looking at a 2004 GT3 and have been on the fence on whether to buy it or not. I've looking for a dedicated track car for some time and was thinking this might fit the bill. It has Moton C/O and light damage to the front right side of the bumper. It would need to be replaced. 67K Km, asking price of $37,6K. I've looked around and that seems very reasonable assuming that there isn't more damage.

Looking for opinions on how this car would fair as a dedicated track car. Any downsides to the 2004 GT3? Assuming that it's just a bumper replacement, anything else one typically upgrades/changes?

Thanks,
jl

The smartest thing you can do is get a VERY THOROUGH inspection as well as a full damage estimate. Just "guessing" is a recipe for a money pit.

No doubt about that. While that aspect will be taken care of, I was looking for other considerations for upgrades/changes, things of note for the GT3 '04 that a prospective buyer might need to consider for the track.

Don't know 37.6 for a gt3 with moton and only needing front bumper. I think there's more to that. Like Dell said- get a body shop to look for frame damage. Mike

I should have posted in miles. Around 42K miles.

So is it in Canada?

Agree with others. Not to be rude but please use the search tool, it works. These cars have been in North America since Spring of 2003 so lots of great information around on track safety items, upgrades, preparation, maintenance.

I always recommend you get to know the car as is before fiddling with it and get performance driving assistance if you aren't experienced.

I'll head out to have a look this Sunday to see if it's worth it. All the paneling line up, so things dont seem to be twisted up too much. I'll have to wait and see what the shop says to fix her up.

Well you didn't exactly say JUST that. You asked about the car AND the track upgrades. I answered one of your two major questions. As far as track upgrades, most of us here have fallen off the deep end upgrading our GT3's so do a search and read up on this forum and then ask further questions ask we have all been there.

I'll say it again, with that damage, miles, and history, a through PPI and damage appraisal should be priority #1 before you even think about other items.

Send me a private message with last 8 characters of VIN and I will see what I have on it.

What is the deal on the hole next to plug for tow hook?

That pic the passenger side tire looks so far way from fender. The clearance between top of tire to fender looks my stock old 996. I dont believe GT3 has that much clearance between tire/fender. Mike

Wouldn't be surprised if the lot just isn't level.

With that car - you'll have an excuse to get the RS front bumper.

^ Like mine, replaced when my bumper hit the tire wall on the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca. Make sure the radiator and plumbing is fully checked.
