You know Dell, even the NA Carrera S offers enough power to get to >180mph and more than enough acceleration to get into trouble around town.

Plus it's lighter and understeers less.

I tested a 996TT before I ordered my Carrera S. I tested 996/996TT/997 Carrera. I liked the NA more than Turbo power.

Just a thought. Hard to go wrong with either unless you go totally ***** and get a Tip.

Chris, the problem (not that it's a problem) is that I prefer the M64/GT1 motor over the M96. Just not sure I could pick a 997S or a 996TT.

But trust me, I would NEVER NEVER NEVER drive a tippy-magic-tronic non connected lazy *** transmission.

I'll give you that but I can attest my Carrera S is a terrific street car even without the GT1 engine. It's comfortable, more than powerful enough, handles great and has Turbo brakes and iIt has more torque than the GT1 engine. I didn't like how the 996TT felt to me. It felt heavy.

Not much to lose by going on a test drive.

I guess a TT is ok for a family car..... Better than a Cayenne.

I think the 997 C2S should be worth a drive. I was also pleasantly surprised by the PDK box in those, though the 6 speed has it's charms...

I like the 996TT as well, but they maybe starting to show their age, and they do feel heavier.

So why not throw a 993 turbo into the mix? beautiful, old school, find one that has some engine upgrades perhaps? besides, their values have flattened and the cost of ownership when its time to move on will be negligable vs the brutal depreciation of the 997... I just sold a 993 c2s and while not as pure as the gt3, it had a soul unlike the newer variant imho.

Dell, the TT is an awesome choice. I still remember the day when I drove into Sunset Porsche with my TT, to compare it against driving a GT3.
The 2 cars (as we all know) are 2 different beast's.
What really stood out for me was when I jumped back into my TT and drove off, how damn comfortable it was and the power. The TT lacks no power and has the comfort of the finest leather couch.
I guess that is what makes it such a great touring car, even if you are just tooling around town.

You are forgiven for having these impure thoughts; now, two Hail Mary's(er maybe Walter's),... Nothing wrong with a TT as a DD. Are you thinking 997 or 996? As you well know it'll make a better DD car than the GT3. I'm assuming you'll have a race car (still building a SPBOX?) as well so it's probably a good complementary Pcar for the road.

GT3=Daughter though : ). Just glad my wife doesn't read this stuff. My daughter is a car buff like me- can't wait to teach her the ropes with trackdays. She can ride shotgun with me this year since she's turning 16. Mike

I'd go with a 993 TT before a 996 TT for all the reasons stated above. More of a classic, IMHO.
