nt-01 is the best bang for the buck in my opinion, like what everyone says.
I'll be at Laguna 2/1 with NCRC; anyone else going?... weather looks like it's going to be dry!

You are going to have clear weather and a great time. Saturday and Sunday is the annual Mazda employee weekend with bikes and cars. Low turn out, two days for less than $300 at Laguna! You should show up at the track Sunday morning and I bet you can get on for 2 hours worth for $150!!!!

Here's the progression:
1. You'll come to the conclusion that a second set of wheels with R compounds is the only way to go.
2. You'll use the PS2s in the wet and R's in the dry and life is good.
3. You'll eventually need both sets at the track ans start working on how to get the spare set there along with a jack etc.
4. You'll buy an open trailer and start to read all the tow vehicle threads
5. You'll start to modify the car and find it uncomfortable on the street
6. Then you'll want to go faster, sell it and buy a race car and an enclosed trailer a larger tow vehicle and start racing.

I want to dig this thread back up.... I have Nitto NT-01's for my track tires, and although they are OK for street use I wanted to get some more opinions/options on street rubber for my other wheels... (my nittos are 315 245)
I noticed one person said Yokohama & Bridgestone, any further feedback on those?
I can get Nitto NT05 but the rears would gave to be 295/35/18 F 245/40/18.. Is that rear too tall?

The OEM tire (PS2) is hands down the best pure street tire IMO for our cars. Great grip that doesn't require as much heat in the tire as say an MPSC, and is surprisingly good when wet. Probably this and the current equivalent Pirelli are best street tires. They just happen to be made of gold or platinum though.... or so their prices would have you believe @ $1300-$1500 per set mounted
At around $700 per set mounted, the Sumitomo HTR-ZIII is about 85-90% of either of those tires at half the price.

I run the NT-05 on my Subi for street. My instructor friend runs the NT-05 on his Zo6 and loves them on the track.
Nitto's rim width chart says 295/35/18 can be used on rims from 10in to 11.5in.

Good. That was my question really is to see if the 295/35 would fit on our cars. And I believe yours is also slightly lowered too..?

Dave,
I have not tried a 295 on my P-car, I run the 315. Just giving you the rim width data from Nittos site. I also just wanted to point out i run the NT-05s on my Subaru WRX and a friend track his Zo6 with NT-05s so they can handle street and track with good grip, value, and longevity.
