It is crankcase oil. The RMS is between the engine and the transaxle. It is actually toward the front of the car, as opposed to the seal at the "front" of the engine, actually at the rear of the car. Hope yours is not leaking!

Isn't there something like a 12 month warranty on any work the dealer does? It should be printed on the receipt for the work from the dealer. Doesn't matter which clutch, flywheel, mufflers, etc, are on the car. I'd hold them to it. They're 0-for-2 on this fix and they didn't have a problem doing the work with the mods on there in the first place.

I believe Porsche parts warranty is actually 24 months... Holger is right, they should good will this since its their replacement part that is failing, not yours. But your stance of taking it like a man is honorable tho'!

The thing that bothers me is that they are experimenting on your car with the different seals and they expect you to pick up the tab. That doesn't sit well with me. If I were in your shoes and had to pay for the new fix, I would make it clear that if the new seal leaks, they're going to pick up the cost of repair #4. If they gave me a hard time and started up with the BS mod disclaimer, I'd take it elsewhere and never set foot in the place again.

I agree with 'Holger B' that the dealership should not be experimenting on your car. In southern California where there are lots of these 996 GT3 and 997 GT3 cars, the dealer should be experienced with this issue and following Porsche AG written instructions.
I don't know why the dealer volunteered to change the original seal in the first place. As you stated it was only "sweating a bit".

Mine drips two or 3 drops in a week sitting in the garage. Still the original seal with 9000 miles, guess it's a good idea to just leave it alone till it leaks a lot?
