Default pccb rotor on 03 996 gt2

what do rotors look like when they begin to fail? my car is a 03, w/ 4,500 no track miles. noticed a squeak & minor roughness to braking today. looked at rotor, noticed minute cracks around drilled vent holes. the other 3 seem to have no cracks from the vent holes. is this normal/can they ever be turned (as steel rotors can). how do you know when they are not usuable? pads all worn uniformily w/ plenty of material left

euro car? the dealer has a service manual with photos of different wear levels up to replace. I thought they did not have PCCB until 2004.

can not say. The center channel looks like something got stuck. Take it to the dealer and see what they say. When mine worn they looked very different and felt like an emery board. Also, the dealer will not have GENI rotors so you would have to buy 2 rotors. There is NO way that the rotor should be worn even if 100% of the miles were track. I would have the dealer work on a defect issue. With the age of the car I would not hold out much hope unless you have a very close relationship with the dealer.

Gen I ceramic rotors had the premature wear, dealer wont do anything for it as there was a recall a LONGGGG time ago..

IMO, take them off and keep them for the car during resale , as they aren't too bad yet, buy some steel GT3 cup rotors, TRUST ME, I liked them better than the ceramics!

Default rotors

after closer inspectiuon, appears like wear sensor may have havd minor contact w/ rotor. very weird for 4,000 miles. car has yellow pagid 90 pads now. would you recommend using those again? instead of changing over to steel, i may try the new pads & see. thanks for your help.

Pagid yellows are GREAT PADS, and highly looked up upon on the forums and by the track guy's, a good endurance track pad! IMO, that is not the issue!

Default pads

just spoke to paragon about pads... they said pagid yellows are great track pads, but would wear out quickly on the street. they mentioned pagid 'sport' pads.. which would be more street-driven. any thoughts? maybe just do the 19's? not sure if these are what came on car new

I agree, something funny here. I am still on my original gen I rotors, 55k miles, at least a dozen track days and many auto-X. They still look great. I gotta say, I love the ceramics. When I look at everyone else's steel rotors, they all looked torched after just a few track days. Use good brake ducts and keep those pads from wearing less than 50% = success.
