Default Rear Tire size

Was speaking to the CCW folks yesterday and they told me for most of the 996 GT3s they supplying a 12" wheel for the rear (64 offset) with a 315 R6 Hoosier (when using Hoosier as the tire of choice)

My question is anyone using this setup (assuming heavier springs/revised shocks and -2.5 camber in the rear) without rolling the fenders?

I am using Volk 11inch rear wheel with 315 R6 (revalve and heavier springs) did not have to roll fender at all.

Default Rear Tire Size

Bill, thanks for the feedback. I know the stock/factory wheel is 11" so that is good to hear. Question is will a 12" wide wheel w/315s fit as well as your 11" w/315? The CCW folks say it fits, no problem. Not that I don't have faith in what they say but the RLs have the experience.

I have 11s and 315 R6 -- not a problem
I consulted Mooty prior and was told that a 12 is ideal but an 11 will work.
We all know that Mooty is a huge CCW supporter etc...
It will work

I have CCW 12's with 315 PS2's. Hoosier tires may have different actual measurements, I'm not sure.
I do have my fenders rolled, and have mild street alignment, not track alignment. No problems.

I have CCCW 12s and Hoosiers, and they fit easily. My rear fenders are rolled, but the way CCW makes them, there is no problem. If you are unsure if you will ever use different tires, then 11.5 might be a better idea. MPSCs, for instance, should not go on 12s in the tire sizes that they currently make.

Chuck Price, if as you say the 12s with 315s fit with no problem, what was the reasoning to roll your rear fenders?

When I bought the car, the previous owner had rolled them. I bought the CCW wheels later. I can fit my fingers between the tire and the fender. Having said that, I've rolled my fenders on every car I've owned, just to make sure there is no sharp edge staring at my tire.
I've had more trouble in the 6GT3 with the front. If you mess with the caster, you can push the tire too far forward, and rub the front edge of the fender by the side indicator light.

Chuck, thanks for the info. The issue you rise about the fronts rubbing, what size wheels and tires are you using up front?

I had rubbing issues with Nitto's, and I forget which wheels. My alignment was different at the time, with shims giving me -3.0 camber in the front, which increased the caster to about 9. I am running 245/35/18 R6s on 9" wheels now, with no problem, but my caster is back to about 8, and my camber is -2.75. Some people like the 245/40s in the front, but I like having the shorter side wall, and my corner balancing was done with that tire size, so that it what I am using for now.

Chuck, thanks, that is very good information. I see on the Tire Rack website that Hoosier has a 255 tire. Have you given any thought of using a 255 and do you think a 255 would rub the outside of the fender?

I'd stick with 245's. It's a proven tire and they already will rub a little which really is no big deal.

As far as rolling fenders goes, I think the roll that the factory does is sufficient for most track setups. No?

I have the new Hoosier R6 255 up front on 9" BBS rims with about -3 deg camber and it fits fine. They rub a bit on the inner fender, but so do my Nitto 245s on the stock front rims.
