Well, if you are just looking at capability I would say 997.2 non-RS especially with the 3.8 engine, motor mounts and nose lift. The moto I hear and believe is to always buy the latest & greatest because of the engineering. Porsche just keeps making better cars. I just drove a 997.1 RS at Watkins Glen and the car is just Fantastic. Ok course, I have not driven the new 997.2 non-RS, but my guess it is equally as good or more Fantastic.
Now, if you are talking collector item than that is a different story.

How can you go wrong with any of these cars?
I drove the PetFrog car at Calspeedway and fell in love with it. It's the only car I've driven that I would sell my gt3 for at this point. BUT, if you want the mk1 RS at a better price, wait for the mk 2 to come out and the mk 1 will drop to more manageable ranges.
I just got the Panarama magazine that highlights the mk 2 GT3 and I felt sick to my stomach when reading all the electronic gizmos on board. I know it's faster, better, but too much electronics killed the feel of the M cars and that's why I went to the P cars. This evolution of electronics is giving me the same feeling.

Edit: Heck, while we're at it. If you're going for for a track modded vehicle. Why not a Cup car? Mk.II SuperCup is around the next corner, should be several Mk.I Cup Cars for sale at descent price soon!

depend on how you want to use it.
if you want a garage queen and will keep it for 15 years. the RS will be better. it is an RS. it really doesnt matter if it's better or different. the RS moniker will make it a "better" car in 15 yeats.
if you want to drive it and flog on track. i would take .2GT3 for sure. it is a better car technically.
but why dont you just get 997.2 RS and be done with it

mk2 no question but would wait for the RS. Its going to be special and more distinct from the non-RS than in the 7 mk1 iteration. Wish i had the cash to get one.
