Do a search on this forum on how long these babies last, it isn't long (Michelin Pilot Sport 2 5,000-6,000 miles with some track time).

Checking the alignment is the right thing to do since you are getting new tires but your car handled well on the track correct? Usually, major incorrect toe settings show up immediately, described by drivers as 'scary' handling.

Keep in mind that the settings could have slipped during the recent past so if they are off when you have the alignment check we don't know how long they have been that way.

Mine is over neg 2 and I always cord the outside driver's side first.

Yeah I knew it was time for the tires to go and that I had been lucky they lasted so long!
It was just the final wear pattern that made me think something was wrong. The car is handleling wonderfuly and predictable so I did not want to screw with it unless needed.

I like the toe theory because if the problem was camber related the rest of the tread near the corded part would be seriously worn down, which it isn't. Yes?

Normal.
Use tires that have a symetrical tread pattern, they can be remounted.
Left Rear Inside becomes Right Rear Outside, Right Rear Inside becomes Left Rear Outside.
Despite the flip you'll get better economy and performance.

another very strong vote for toe. The tire looks just like one of mine when the toe was way off.
