Does anyone have experience selling a 996 GT3 to Carmax? I was told they buy cars and was considering having them give me an estimate. Any idea on if it would be worthwhile to even have them look at the car?

They will (and should) give you a "wholesale" number which all but guarantees a profit for them (that is their business). Most likely it will not meet your expectations, but circumstances may dictate that you accept it.

I remember almost a decade ago I took an auto-x winning and fairly well prepped 944 to Carmax, convinced that I would let it go at whatever they offered. Well, their offer was $450, that's three digits. Needless to say, I did not take it.
I do think it would be a waste of your time to go there, but if you DO go, I'd be curious to know what they offered you. I would guess around $32k. They will want to drive the car and put it on a lift and so on, FYI.

Try your Porsche Dealer, I know we buy customer cars all the time. Saves us from having to pay for shipping, and/or auction fee's. That way they will also get the story on the car, and usually have service records (if you service it there).

waste of time. Granted it all depends on how quick you need the funds and still I think you'd be better off selling it yourself.
What are the details on the car?

During a recent prelude to a divorce I was forced to sell my Boxster S. My wife wanted to sold quicker so she took it to Carmax. They offered $11K. I sold it 30 days later for $17K. My guess would be to expect a quote in the mid to low $40Ks.
