Default Number of 996 GT3's built

I was reading an article today (http://www.carguideweb.com/articles/4383/) and it mentioned that there were 5,300 997 GT3's built. Is that correct? Seems high compared to what I had heard were about 1,000 or so 996 GT3's that were manufactured. Can anyone confirm either or both of these numbers?

1100 or so 996 GT3s imported to US or North America. Something like that.

gang,

interesting -- it picked up quickly in late '03 and into '04 (I got mine in Dec '04) then petered out.

For the Cannucks out there, I understand that there are less than 50 Canadian spec 996 GT3s. Is that correct?

So out of those 959 that made it to US how many do you think still exist? With such low numbers it seems that perhaps prices may settle in mid 40's no?

after all it is the last gt3 that espoused the pure driving spirit (ie no nannies)

So out of 959 I'd say there are perhaps 900 un-totalled GT3's left.

A clean RS America is a $35k car in a normal economy and they are pretty close to the standard 964 C2. Plus there are even less GT3's than Rs America's. I'd say that clean, no story GT3's won't go lower than high 50's for quite a while.

Yes the Canadain spec 996 GT3 cars are fairly rare, I have one of the few. Many of the 996 GT3's up here are US spec.

Looks like that chart only accounts for about 1/3 of the total 900 or so GT3s...

Sorry guys that my earlier post was not clear; it does show all monthly shipments of 996 GT3 cars by PCNA from the first month, May 03, to the final month, Oct 05.. The column headings are date, month's sales, cumulative sales, and year total. The final line: (Oct.05 0 959 95) shows that 0 were sold that month, 95 were sold in 2005, and the total sold by PCNA for the entire model life was 959
