Default window net install 996 GT3 for PCA club racing

First post, great forum. Search function is down.
Need to install window net for PCA club racing on 996 GT3 with Das bar (ok for 2 races as rookie without cage). Mark Frances at CDOC said no kit is out there for stock 996, that people fabricate the front bracket then attach to das bar in rear. I heard that a key is that they must be able to reach in from outside to unlatch top bar. Any Ideas? Thanks.

Bernie, welcome to Rennlist!

From what I understand you need a roll cage as of 2009. I thought the 2 race thing was for 2008. You might want to double check with Donna before you make and decisions.

I have not seen a window net installed on a roll bar only car and can't envision how it would be attached. Why don't you just get your cage built? Personally, I would NOT go club racing without one. Further, I already was all set to have a cage installed in my GT3 for just DE's until I decided I was going club racing anyway.

Whatever you do, you'll have a blast in CR! When is your first event?

Hey Mooty, of course I remember, great fun there at BW. Have fun at Thunderhill. I'm hoping to clarify that I can do 2 events (Fontana and BW) as a rookie in stock class with das bar (no cage, though I understand Dell's point re safety), waiting for a reply from Donna at PCA. Not planning to race the GT3 after that and spec boxster is definitely a great alternative, interested in the idea of sealed Raby motor with more HP and upgrades if it ever happens. Are you going to do POC? VERY competitive boxster spec there. Come to Fontana next year with PCA or this year with POC, you'll enjoy it. I look forward to hearing of your boxster spec racing experiences.

Hey Bernie,

It's Victor from SDR, to my knowledge Dell is right about the rule being 08. But more importantly, please do not race at Fontana without a cage, I've seen more carnage at that track and specifically at the FOS event. Your concern is not a roll over, (I've seen the Das bar stand up to that no problem) it's getting T-Boned. You are a valuable member of the club and I would hate to see you get hurt.

Hey Victor,

Good to hea from you. Your concerns make good sense. I haven't heard from Donna yet but it sounds like you and Dell are pretty clear about it so I'll plan do the TT (it seemed like a good chance to do the school and some sprints). Last year the TT seemed to have plenty of carnage so I'll be vigilant there too. Hope you're going to make it up there. Maybe its time for me to look for a dedicated race car but I sure love the GT3, beginning to learn to drive it

FWIW Donna at PCA clarified that it's allowed for rookies in a stock class to club race for 2 weekends without the full cage.

And I concur wholeheartedly why half rollcage if u plan to race. If I have family why take the risk? Your life is worth more then the full rollcage. Mike

I'm glad you gave it some more thought, the GT3 is a blast at that track and that's why i'm bringing mine to TT. I raced there last year with my dedicated race car and fun factor notwithstanding, i would never race there without a cage after that. Considering I flat spotted my RR hoosier and it gave out on the banking an inch and a coat of paint away from three cars. Code brown moment! Hell, I'm like 175+ on the banking in my GT3, lose pressure in a tire and it can go ugly fast.

It's not you I'm worried about, you're a great driver. It's everything else around you that can go sour and collect you.

See you there!
