Maybe not, if she has these milkcans.

In a violent accident, it is entirely possible for implants to rupture, whether they are placed beneath the muscle or not, whether they are saline or silicone, whether they are old or new. However, they are generally easier to fix than a broken neck, so if this is part of the decision about whether or not to get a HANS, it is really...eh...up to the individual.

another doc...Breast Imaging Specialist....honest!

Ok, I was gonna ignore this thread until....Chuck, a "breast imaging specialist"? For real? What is that, a radiologist that will only see women?
I can see telling my parents I want to go to med school and they ask what for???
Never heard of it but I'm not a girl and wouldn't know. Sounds like a good job to me.

Yes, I'm a Radiologist, and divide my time between Interventional Radiology and Mammography/Breast Imaging. With Mammography, we mostly focus on early cancer detection, and we find it many times a day ( we have a very busy practice). The enjoyment comes with believing you are saving someone's life, and the stress comes with thinking you might be missing one. Driving on the track helps relieve the stress. And although we don't generally think of it, men have breasts, and men can get breast cancer. But, to get back on topic, I believe men can wear a HANS without worry, unless they have implants. Then....I'd worry...

BTW, I used to live in Wallingford.

Default We Interrupt This Thread...

CT03911-
Make no mistake - it's a long road to get to the point where Chuck is at, in terms of being a radiologist, with specialization.

Medicine can be a most rewarding profession, no question, but, too, as Chuck mentions - at times a bit 'stressful'...
though I try not to focus on that end, personally - just so I can enjoy what I do!

Not over-reacting to your post.. just trying to be 'offer insight!'
~~~~~~~
Chuck-
Too funny! I am still a member of Stamford Yacht Club!
Have been since I was a surgical resident...
Still race out of there, too!
~~~~~~~
OK - back to '***** and braces!'

Mike-

(Well, I guess this isn't a 'hi-jack' since it's YOUR thread!)

I am trained in surgery (did lots of plastics and reconstruction - almost ended up in a partnership in Fairfield County, CT) and Emergency Medicine.
I am Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and practice it full time.

Emergency Medicine is kind of all the 'critical' and 'non-critical' conditions in ALL the specialties.
We tend to, and are responsible for, 'whatever comes in'...
most often without any prior knowledge of our patient - a total stranger.
And yes, we do work closely with our other 'in house colleagues' - the radiologists (well, in house during banking hours!)

I prefer NOT to think of it as stressful - sometimes what to have for dinner is a challenge - not much training in that!
Twenty-six years of 'formal education' (once calculated when a volunteer asked me what grade I completed, to do what I do!)

I was recruited to work a new Children's Medical Center's ER - it can be the most rewarding feeling to get a 'high-five' from a child with multiple medical problems...
And, simultaneously can gnaw at your very insides.

I trust by 'pretty hot' you are not referring to those with temps over 105, but rather how they are 'stacked'...
Yes, indeed, many are, for I treat ALL walks of life from homeless to public figures, yet I treat them all the same... Just me.

On a lighter note - Emergency Medicine is one of the few specialties where you can get a total stranger to get naked for you in a heartbeat...
That's what you were referring to, I imagine.
It is an art, to develop a rapport with a total stranger, to have them entrust you with their nakedness and their life, and I respect the honor to do so.

I also worked the ALMS circuit for a few years with IMSA - from coordinating special events within the races to riding with the Safety Crew.
I had the honor to meet and talk with Liz Halliday - she is LEAGUES above Danica Patrick, in my opinion. Truly a class act!

Recession-proof... Well, I am thankful to be doing what I do.
It affords me the option to take two weeks a month off, if I choose, but I do not take it for granted for a moment!

Question for you - why the thread? A pondering question?
Just curious.
As a Doc I do not always respond to 'medical advice' threads for a multitude of reasons...

This one... well, it just needed it! LOL!
OK - enough procrastination on my part...
Back to my 'to do' list!

Doc

My reason for posting is why and how the hans device was developed. Racing for most party is a male dominated world so I was curious if the hans device device was procured for women too. I just got a hans and trying it out it seemed it would interfere with women more then men. So this how it was posted. My daughter is 14 and in 2 years she'll be in the track someday with me so that's the reason mainly. The post may sound humorous but if it makes someone chuckle as well as pose a honest question- I'm all for that. Regards. Mike

Hi Guys!

Hope it's ok to post in here as I drive a GT3 Cup, does that count?

I've been wearing a HANS device for a few years now with no interference at the Dairy Bar I use the small size restraint with the gel pads, and find it more comfortable than the belts on the, um... girls
