best of luck (sucks that the economy is what it is) as the car seems to also have some really nice goodies too...

No hard feeling huh Dell.

It would be even more simple over a beer and to get back on track soon...winter sucks!

"I also don't see the used prices recovering on GT3s in the short term, but I can see them being comparable to the RS America from yesteryear in relation to other 996s from the same era"

I agree wholeheartedly. The prices will drop to 50k and stop hopefully, versus 996's. Hell I'm seeing 997 C2s' trading under 50.

Figures. I just bought (last month) an '05 that is totally stock except for some worthless (on the track) stereo upgrades and radar detector. Paid 61 plus. I should have waited, as I see prices coming down some more.

BTW, this is my first GT3, bought it for tracking. I've been lurking on this forum since I decided to go with this car, and it looks like lots of good advice available here.

May I ask what kind of mileage your car has? I assume it's pristine condition?

Good luck Colby. It is a nice car i've seen it.

Looking on the bright side the opportunity cost of balling it up at the track is way lower now.

Plus not sure you'll find a cheaper alternative for tracking. remeber the gt3 is robust.

i thought cayman was cheap until engine blow ups and power steering issues rose. plus people called me gayman even though i've had more as$ than the women's toilet at grand central.

if u stick to nittos, srf and pagids and ncrc ($100 track days) a track day in gt3 costs maybe $500:

$100 track fee (NCRC - AND u get to race!)
$180 tires (i assume 6 days);
$40 rotors (deman will likely last 15 days);
$70 pads (i assume 10 days);
$100 gas (you can drive to a local gas station in between sessions to fill up so 2 tanks at $40 each plus $20 getting there)
$10 castrol SRF (i assume 10 days);

if you buy strategically when stupid mooty is dumping inventory during wife's garage audits, your consumable cost is much lower.

Ya, I may just end up keeping her if I can't get low 60's. Thanks for break down. $500 isn't bad.

I'm thinking about an E46 M3 and or SRF. Either way, I hope to see you guys at the track again soon!

LOL! I've been known that. A black GT3 in my mirror, get the heck out of the way!

Keep em coming! Us 'poor' folk need more garage sales!

Note to self: Talk to Mooty's wife about making garage audits more frequent!

That was a good buy, so don't sweat it. Prices of cars always go down, so when do you stop waiting? ;-))
