Martin, I honestly don't think you can get "too much" bias with the blacks. If anything, it will be more balanced. The car should be more in control and more planted in braking.

It sounds like there is more to the story that you are missing. Wish I was close and we could head out together and try to diagnose this.

My guess (and only a guess without knowing more) is either (a) tires; or (b) suspension; or (c)brake lines. I would almost certainly rule out the pad compound.

I appreciate the offer to help, and would love if that was possible but I think this is one of those deals where you either love it or hate it.

The excessive squeal is a deal killer for me, and coupled with the new feel I think it is time to go back to my comfort zone of yellows all the way around.

I have run twice now on these pads a total of about 5 sessions, and just do not think they are right for me. I am sure others can benefit from this setup, but for whatever reason it is just not working for me.

thanks for the help. I would like to see Renn Sport work with me on this as I practically had my ear talked off trying to convince me to go with blacks despite my initial insisting that I wanted to stick with what I was comfortable with.

Looks as if Craig at Renn Sport will be making good on this deal. It was not his fault as I take full responsibility for my actions on the blacks, but he is providing a discounted price on the rear yellow replacements. We will see how it works out, but Craig is seeming like a stand up guy on this.

These are a great option...Rennlist price of $600.00 A PAIR!! Will outlast the factory rotors 3+ times over. Direct fit for 996 and 997 GT3 street cars and 996 GT3 Cup cars.

I can get the back to wag under heavy braking" - This is a toe issue or LSD. If you have the stock toe links your rear toe will be off in 3 track days. I barely made it through 1 . If it's LSD you'll wag under trailbraking.

I re-read your first post. It sounds like you're upset about the squeal not anything else. Race pads squeal when they're cold, face it and move on. Change them to the pagid greens for the street if it's a deal breaker.

"I can get the back to wag under heavy braking"

When that happens to me I know the tire pressures are too high. Pull into the hot pits and sure enough, the Nittos are in the low 40's. Drop them back down to 38 and the wagging under heavy braking is gone.

Cheers,

HAWK DTC compounds and fitments now available for GT3- contact Jay at andrew-racing.com

This is a Hawk comparison to Pagid

Pagid RS 4-2-1 Black = HP Plus

Pagid RS 14 Black = HT-10

Pagid RS 15 Grey = HT-14

Pagid RS 19 Yellow = DTC 60

Pagid RS 29 Yellow = DTC 70

Why would you want to run Hawk over Pagid or PFC???

equal performance and technology at this point- price advantage, NASA support- I ran older HT10's for years on 930- new compounds superior. HAWK has bad reputation because of old 9012 blue pads -which ate rotors. Like Pagid Orange they are old technology. New DTC compounds are being successfully used and being reordered by users. It is worth speaking to Jay at Andrew racing.

Sorry...go fish

Hawk is NOT equal to the performance of Pagid or PFC....period. Decent pad for the money but not on the same playing field.

Why are they not on the same playing field ? What performance differences would one experience. I thought it has to do with operating temperatures, friction levels, rotor life, consistency ? They also are about 1/2 the price. I never had any failures or seperation from backing plates

Ah my young grasshopper, there is so much to learn.

Not going to get into a brake pad debate but just take a look at what the real pros are running for pads and you will find out very quickly that Hawk is not on that list. There is a reason they are in NASA and SCCA mainly. Think contingency $$$.

The top teams in the big boy series run Pagid and PFC and they have a choice with the dollars they are throwing around.

I have a set of RS 14's that came with my new purchase of this GT3- I've never ran Pagid before and look forward to trying them at my first events in late March. I have much to learn in this new ride.
