Default Does anyone here use PCCB on track regularly?

Hi,

I'm a new GT3 owner and my car has PCCB

I am a regular track guy, I do 10-15 events/year

What I want to know is- does anyone here run PCCB gen I or II on track regularly?

If so, what has your experience been and how are you running them reliably (eg pads, ducts, maintennce, etc)

Please *don't* reply and tell me about iron rotors, or how you heard/read they fail, I know all that, I read all the old threads...

I just want to create a thread of folks who are running PCCB on track

ok, I'm one but they are gen II's...have 10k miles and about 20 track days (3 seasons), with quite a few in high heat...no problems...rotors look good with the fronts now starting to show some minor cracks around some of the holes...I started tracking in a momentum car and I'm not hard on the brakes like a lot of other GT3 drovers...change pads (stock pccb pads when necessary - less than 1/2 material left) and fluid often (twice a season).....if you are going to run that many events, and if your driving style is hard on brakes then you should wear out the pccb's and switch to iron

I run gen 1 PCCB on the rear of my car. 18 track days so far and they are fine, mostly on a track that's hard on brakes. I ran a couple track days on the front PCCB and saw a couple cracks around the holes so I swapped for iron on the front because of what I read in the old threads. I'm running stock pads on the rear.

Cheers,

I think more of the 997 guys run pccb's so you might get more action in the 997 section...all 996's had Gen I's and most of the track guys switched them out rather than replace them...mine was a late 2005 and the dealer had installed Gen II's...when mine are gone I will probably swap them out due to expense of new rotors

- i'm a 997gt3 with pccbs
- about 35 trackdays with the car
- the first 25 were run with the stock pads - the last with the green p50 motorsport pads
- it is a great setup but nothing last forever when tracking
- i figure i will get another 20 days out of them so maybe 50 in total
- i know a guy 997 with a C2S that is fast and his lasted him 30 events (thats what he told me and i never saw them when he replaced then with custom irons using his stock hats
- i guess if they last lets say 50 events you have to ask how many sets of irons you would go through (maybe 5 plus labor) and then weigh the cost benefit of the two systems

My car has at least 150 days from tracks in the Pacific Northwest VIR, the Glen, T-hill and a few others. THe rears are orginal the fronts are GEN II. The total miles are 58,000 and the front rotors have about 45 track days on them. First 20 miles were the black P-40 the rest Motorsport greens. The greens have P-50 front and the rears are still P-40 but the pad is thicker than the blacks.

I love what I have. If the car had irons I am sure I would be happy but the PCCB has worked for me.

Thanks for the info. I don't know your tracks, are you a doing much braking from 140-150 MPH down to much lower speeds?

At my favorite track I have 4 braking zones from 130-140 down to 60, 85, 70 and 60 MPH

Mosport
- 3rd fastest track in the world
- 2 very hard braking zones (150 to 80, 130 to 40)

Watkins Glen
- similar to Mosport but harder on brakes for sure but still not brutal
- bus stop (150 to 70), outer loop (120 to 70), into the toe (115 to 50), the heal ( 125 to 45), front straight (130 to 70)

VIR
- another fast one but with two huge 150 to 35 decels

Tremblant
- mini Watkins glen i call it

Those are my main tracks - Road Atlanta is on my wish list

My local:

Seattle
t -2 : 165mph > 70mph
t-3: 130 > 35
t-5: 120 > 65
t-8: 115 > 55

Portland:

t-1: 155 > 40
t-4: 100 > 50
t-7: 80 > 30
t-10: 150 > 80

Sounds similar to what I am seeing at THill and Laguna

Are you guys running cup car cooling ducts up front?

I'll keep this thread posted as to how it holds up
