If u havent gone with the full hpde nasa Chasen from the beginning and havent even gone to sp I would be hesitant to participate. Not only hpde 4 is aggressive u wont have ne of that point-by comfort. Safety is dependent on passer not the other way around. Regards. Mike

Mike, its pretty simple. Get a PCA membership, do the ground school with Sideil (sp?) and drive away! Looking forward to next year's events.

GGR is making it even easier to do the ground school as they moved it on track for the last event. it's much more convenient than before.

So after ground school will there be an instructor in your car? How they figure out newbies ?they have their own run grp? Mike

Mike,

PCA: following ground school, all "students" will be assigned an instructor (which are typically pretty helpfull) and will continue to have instructors until "signed-off" as good to solo. Then you remain a "student" (which means that you will be assigned an instructor for the morning session of each subsequient event) until you complete two events without going two wheels off, or black flag, or some other "infraction". After two clean events, you aren't required to have an instructor and can move up the ranks into the higher run groups.

yes. you will have at least ONE session with an instructor. just chit chat with him/her before your session and give them your experience. they'll check you out and most likely sign you off. just show good lines, consistency and stay on track. keep the pace up but don't go for any personal bests.

also, don't mention you know guys from BSR as this will be a negative point against you

It's also important to try to not look surprised when your instructor has less skills and experience than you have...

drive the line and you be fine, mike.
by "the line" i mean the paved line. not dave's line. he makes 3 miles tracks into 2.75 miles hahahaah
i got from the 2nd slowest group to instructor's red group in two days (one event)
but now i prefer one group down from red. most cars in red are decked out race cars. i usually just keep my finger out the window every lap to get those cars by. 300hp 1800 lbs cars are pretty fast.

blue group is fast and fun..... well... you do have to follow the passing rules.
no open passing in PCA GGR regardless of run groups. but blue group points you by pronto.

One other question- as far as car numbers go. PCA decides the number for u or u have a choice? Mike
