2. The "happy hands" is a big no-no. That shuffle approach would make me very nervous as a coach in the right seat. At no point during a session have my hands (other than shifts with my right) come off their position on the wheel. You can feel so much as to what the car is doing (as well as quick corrections) through your hands so you need to be ON THE WHEEL and light to the tough.
i agree 1000% with this comment... i never take my hands off the steering wheel positions unless i'm shifting or.... spinning
