hey but seriously- I've got the arai gp5W and love the bigger eyeport, and I've got one of those iridium visors so I don't need to wear sunglasses. Feels less claustrophobic.

I wear my hans device (with sliders) every time I get on the track and actually felt totally weird the other day w/skip barber at Laguna without it.
I tried on the GP5-W and wasnt much more impressed that the HJC Si-12, lighter weight, similar ventilation design, and bigger eye port for less money, plus i have a fat face and the cheek supports hurt my face. I'm riding an R6 with an Arai and it makes my jaw ache.

I think i'll get an extra visor, iridium.

I'll have a HANS device by my second DE.

LOL. I need a seat like that. Sitting in a tub while your race, sounds heavenly.

Sounds like a really nice unit. How much to hard wire?

horn button does not work with the Gert supplied quick release hub... I got my stuff from Gert and he warned me when I ordered the horn button...

I have horn button that I would gladly sell... I have to find it though... I think it is in the box with my oem wheel...

Largely depends on the installer... I think the system uninstalled is like $1100 or so or maybe the newer update one is $1500 or something... without installation.

I have all of the controls and leds mounted in the ashtray... so when if I get pulled over, I simply close the ashtray... and I can position my leg to block the display you see in the picture.

I had mine installed at a place in Bellevue called Benchmark Motoring -- they are known for their fantastic work... but also for thier high prices... mine was $3K all in... they drill no holes and fab brackets etc... pricey, yes... could have been done at car toys for less than $500 but I do not trust car audio stuff to shops that use sawzalls

I got lasered doing around 90 mph in a 55 at 6am with no cars around me and I did not get pulled over... I simply got the laser alert, slowed down, muted/paused the jammers to let him get a reading when I was at 60 or so...

Although I just added the caragraphic radiator screens so we will see if there are any detrimental effects on the jammer...

It is a great system... knowing what I know now... I would rather have a set of CCWs...

I'll have a HANS device by my second DE.Corey, I'm facing the same decision with helmets, but I can't find anywhere that has the HJC in socal. what are your impressions vs the Arai? I have an HJC for my Harley and it fits fine but it is a 3/4 so I don't know about the full face. Did you say the vent and weight are similar?

Sorry I was trying to quote, disregard the hans sentence.

Get a hans, it saved my life last weekend.

I take it your referring to me? COLBY not COREY.

I'm getting the HJC from Wine Country Motorsports. Livermore performance also has them with no sales tax! Check with Fabryce at GMG in Santa Ana, i think i saw a couple in stock last time i was there. Tell him Colby sent you and he'll help you out.

Because i have a "fat" face the Arai is a little tight. They fit similarly but the HJC just has less cheek bolstering. The HJC is actually 2oz lighter than the GP5-W and $200 less. Although the Arai guys would argue they feel the same weight b/c of the low center of gravity design of the GP-5W.

No worries.

Intake scoop? If you're referring to the ventilation vents they are really nice. There are a total of three, one mouth vent and two smaller visor vents. Each can be easily closed or open at will. Suffice to say the helmet breaths really well. Although it is a bit noisy.

I'm just going to order both from safe racer and keep the one that fits better...after 20 min. I thought my sparko was awesome until i wore it for a day...ugh!

Well their moto helmets are noisy. I have no experience with their auto helmets.

va122,

The gift shop at Buttonwillow carries HJC helmets. I tried mine on there before buying one.

thanks earlyapex for the email pics of your rear spoiler. Wine Country Motorsports in infineon raceway have hjc helmets. They can do the hans anchor install as well. I believe its free of charge if u buy a helmet and/or hans device. Regards. Mike
