Well hopefully by my second DE i'll be running a HANS device.

Pay attention to what the track regulars and racers are using for safety. Your car is far faster than you are at this point of the game. Thanks. All the mods currently being done to the car are safety mods with the exception of the exhaust. With regard to the helmet i think it will just come down to what fits better between the two. I was hopping between several models/makes the last time i was there and this time i'll only have two to try on so i'll spend a good amount of time seeing what fits best

LOL! I've actually gotten used to literally reading 'between the lines' with your writing. I can read it just fine now.

BTW: The car will be back Sunday. Let me know when you want me to swing by.

Default Airbags and full face helmets

The article I had heard about was a bulletin issued by SCCA back in 2004 advising not to use full face helmets with airbags. (attached) A direct link to the article http://www.scca.com/_Filelibrary/Fil...agAdvisory.pdf
doesn't work at the moment so the advisory may no longer be in effect. A search of the net on the topic brings up all sorts of discussion on the matter with no definite conclusion that I can detect.
Personally I wear an open face and my wife pats me on the back and encourages me to play on the track with my GT3.....but I also have a large insurance policy. Hmmm

Right you are mooty... I drove around without a horn for a while... it is needed in my parts even if you are only driving to and from the track..

So there are two schools of horn thought -- get a complicated QD that has wires running through it etc... I am not smart enough for that...

OR

Use misc Porsche switch and wire it to a blank switch panel (like next to the ac display) -- see in this pic where I have a "wing up/wing down" switch to the left of the ac display/just above the windshield wiper stalk in the pic... that is a rocker switch with the horn wired to it... push either side and beep beep... this is my "dumb guy" solution and it is simple enough to locate when you need it (hand glides up from the shifter to the button with ease) and there are no wires running thru your QR wheel hub and no silly horn button to worry about etc..

and I have the same ingress/egress issues so I switched to this wheel with QR and the difference in the feel as well as the ease of entry/exit make it a great mod to consider...

Since this picture I fully rennline'd the drivers side footwell in black (trackmats, pedals, floorboards, pedal extensions and a black rennline tow hook up front)

That's what sliders are for.

sliders? if you really want to go with the lowest C of G- bolt that baby to the floor lol.

alcantara is my favorite thing about the interior of the 997GT3, but I definitely sit far enough away to not come close to needing a detachable wheel.

hey but seriously- I've got the arai gp5W and love the bigger eyeport, and I've got one of those iridium visors so I don't need to wear sunglasses. Feels less claustrophobic.

I wear my hans device (with sliders) every time I get on the track and actually felt totally weird the other day w/skip barber at Laguna without it.
