Default pirelli skicks' cracks

I ve just received the new set of pirelli slicks. Everything seemed to be ok but after putting the tires on the rims and filling by pressure I noticed thin cracks on sides of front ones. Is it normal. Did anyone have this kind of experience?

This in normal. I've seen another guy with a GT3 on his car. I asked him the same thing and it's perfectly fine. Those tires are very quick, BTW.

Pretty normal, some have them some don't and develop them. The Yokohama's are famous for this too. Inspect you tires as often as possible and keep an eye on any signs of potential trouble always. If you see the cracks in line with the tread surface and close to it, then you may have an issue. The small often half moon shape "hair line" cracks that seem to appear at random on the sidewalls haven't ever been an issue.

I wouldn't run that. I ended a weekend short because of cracks like that.

thanks, thats the answer I received from Germany:
"This are frozencracks, when the tyres are during the wintertime transport to
the customer and also when the warehouse has minus degree.."

Exactly. I had several that had cold weather cracks. Our local Pirelli vendor will not ship in freezing temps and will NOT warrant the tire if during transport it gets below freezing.

Some will say to run them. Personally, when the tire has a defect like that I will not risk my life or car on the track. Sure we can't predict incidents on the track but to NOT run a tire like that is preventative.

Yeah, if you can exchange them, then do. I wouldn't run those either. The cracks I was thinking you saw would be on the side wall, and much thinner, like hair line and not near the tread surface at all. The Yokohama's and other ones I've seen are much different cracking, those look too deep.

thanks, I II do that.

BTW Austin, do you have some unibal parts for front suspension to stiffer the car? I also noticed thet the aligment changes (especially at rear camber) after competitions. Is it normal? I ve just installed rear toe links.

I have cracks like that in a set of Pirelli Corsas. Have sent them back to the local rep who is examining them to see if they will replace them. I was advised not to run on them.
