Default 2004 GT3 crashed - trying to find selling info

Hi all!

Unfortunately my first post to this list is a downer, as I crashed my GT3 on a track day, and the repair cost to do it right puts it at the edge of viability.

My local club suggested I post to this list as there are many very knowledgeable people here.

The car is a seal grey 2004 GT3 with red RS wheels and RUF tail (see avatar), which now has some damage on the left rear, but mainly on the passenger side where I got rammed (nothing much visible from inside the car) and the front, when the two of us slid into a barrier.

I'm not sure on how best to go about selling the car as is; I don't have facilities for dismantling it or storing it, so probably have to sell it whole. The drivetrain is in excellent shape (22,000 mi.), as is most of the interior. 3 wheels are OK.

I'm in Vancouver, Canada.

If anyone can give me any advice on how to go about selling it, I would be very appreciative.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Curious why you went with the Ruf tail, haven't seen that on a GT3 before.

Posting pics may help you get better advice.

My wife found the car done up as you see it, and liked it like that. I did too. I had intended to get the second stage wing for track use, but hadn't gotten around to it.

The car as it was... :

I'll probably get down to the car in the next couple of days to take some pictures of its present condition. It's a bit hard to look at it like that.

there is a great couple of shops down here in Seattle. PM me if you like and I can put you in touch. I do know a guy that has rebuilt a couple of 997 GT3s. He bought one to keep.
Did this happen @ Mission?

Did the non-OEM rear wing have anything to do with the crash?(Lack of downforce)

To answer some of the questions...

roberga - yes, it happened at Mission.

PJS996GT3, Paul 996 - I don't know how much it is worth yet; that's part of my problem. I'm going to get pictures of the present condition tomorrow, hopefully and then I'll be able to get the condition explained.

GT3 Racer - No, the non-OEM wing was not a factor. The speed wasn't that high and the wing does pretty well in any case. The day was changeable, with damp to very wet track, and some anti-freeze had been put down on the track. And, probably the main reason, I didn't handle the throttle smoothly enough. I tapped the left barrier with the left rear, and then as I went back to the center of the track I got t-boned and the two of us slid into the opposite barrier.

First thing is the insurance going to cover the car and what their adjuster is going to do. I totaled my very modified 911 turbo and went through a month of hell. I got them to total the car, then I bought the salvage for almost nothing and sold it as a whole.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. The important thing is that you're OK. I do like the look of that Ruf rear spoiler on your car. Looks a bit Old School!

Keep the board informed of what insurance did or did not do, cost of repair (IF DONE) and what you plan on doing with the car (price)..
I would hate to do that to my car, I am glad you are okay.

FWIW, I crashed my 996 GT3 on the street resulting in frame damage. The car was repaired to a very high standard and drove as good as new. I sold it a few months ago for $56k. It had around 14k miles on it.
