Default Cost for brake pads and installation?

Time for some new pads all around. Local Porsche dealer quotes me 1300 dollars installed. Whats the cost difference if I find a good independant shop? Any recomendations for the East end of Long Island?

With regards to getting OEM parts I had very good experience with Sunset Imports (www.sunsetimports.com).
Just recently bought full set of brake pads/sensors from them and the prices are as following:

front sensors 24.44 each(you need a set of two)
rear sensors are 11.24 ea(you need a set of two)
front pads 244.32
rear pads 251.14

plus shipping.

call bob brooks at
Vortex Motorsport
813.874.1911

he should be able to recommend street use pagid pads or oem pads at much cheaper price than stealers.

i takes me no more than 60 min to do all four corners, including jacking the car up, drinking beer, watch football in b/n and bleed the calipers. so at most 2 hours labor if they rape you. so say $300 in labor, pads should be no more than 600 at the very ver most. so 900 if they really gouged you. but i would say 6-700 tops.

Are you sure they are just replacing the pads?? Are they changing front rotors too?

If they are just replacing the pads and want to charge that much, find a new dealer.

1300 is just pads at dealers.
OEM front rotor without discount from dealer = $900/set (parts only)

What's the best price people are paying for a full set of front and rear Pagid RS19s? And where did you get them? I just picked up a set and paid more than Mooty's $600 ceiling. Can I get RS19s for $600? If so....

Far as I know it's just the pads. I just bought the car in Floida at Champion Porsche and noticed the brakes were sqealing quite a bit. Brought it in for maitenance but they just juryrigged them with a few new dampeners and anti sqeal plates.
I was pretty sure the Padgit yellow brake pads were the cause...(they "sqeal" a lot?? As I dont track my car they werent needed)) Anywhooo..as I have the car up in Long Island at the moment I wanted the brakes done right and brought it into Storm Porsche in Southampton. They quoted the 1280.00 for the new pads etc... Luckily for me Tony, my salesman at Champion in Pompano Beach, stepped up to the plate and Champion is going to pay for the brake work. Great group of guys at Champion Porsche!!

since you dont track your car, you wont need to bleed your calipers much.
however, these cars are 4years old now, since you are doing the pads, you might as well just changed the brake fluid (when the changed the fluid, they have to bleed the calipers, else they wont get all the old fluid out, but REMIND the dealers to BLEED the lines... sometimes, they take the easy way out).

usually u should change brake fluid every 2 years, even if you dont drive the car at all.
