Radar Detector, Finally Have to Do It
#16
Call this karma....I just ran at Mid Ohio with Mike Valentine in his Carrera GT. The last run he spun his car in Turn 3..."mud on the track". He is a Porsche owner and local resident here in Cincinanti. How can you go with anything else than a V1 detector. The owner of the company drives his Carrera GT the way its supposed to be driven, and stands behind his product. he lives and breaths radar detection. I may be biased, but its based on facts.
The product works. I have saved myself from at least 5 tickets..that I can recall. I slow down, others don't, and they get the ticket. just dont' be the first car in the train.

the laser jammers are great! use both. A shop here puts front and rear radar and jammer. The police get an error 4 code on their gun. At the same time you get an alarm. By the time they get things sorted out you are either slowed down or gone. There must be 10 people I know that have it and all say it was worth the money. Including CGT owners that had to spend a lot of money to route the lines. Can not just drill holes in the CF.

I just had a K-40 Calibre front/rear radar detector and laser jammer sytem installed in my wife's new MB wagon. The beauty of this thing is that it's totally hidden, so you don't have to worry about it sticking out like a sore thumb. With the front and rear radar tones (you can have it speak the warnings instead) and lights telling you where the radar is coming from, I think you get the same benefit as with the arrows on a V1. Dealer installed the whole thing for $1600, so it's not cheap.

V1 is great but they really need to update the unit. It's like having one of those Motorola flip phones from 1991 on your windshield. I don't care what it looks like but just from an engineering standpoint technology should strive to get smaller more compact.
Sometimes I have my V1, GPS and EZ-Pass on my winshield at the same time and I start to feel like I'm a taxi driver.
I would think it would be better to have the guts of the machine stored underneath the dash somewhere and have only the forward and rear sensors connected via wires. One tiny sensor on your rear and another on the winshield. The wires could be very thin for a stealthy set up. Seems dumb to have the bulk of the unit in plain view like that.

I know there is very strong V1 support here, but I've been using Escorts since the first one in 1981. The current models (I have two 8500 and one 8500 X50) are outstanding, and in independent tests they perform better than V1. They are also smaller. You don't get the arrows, but you don't get radar tickets, either. I've gotten only one since I started using them, and it was on the first day in 1981 when I forgot to turn it on. They work much better with the power on.

V1 or the new Beltronics STI Driver, both work GREAT, however the V1 has the arrows!
Also the Blinder Laser Jammer really works and has saved me every time. Well worth the money, believe me.
