Hello:
Been looking for an 04' for about 6 months. Found this one in Chicago and have my deposit down:

http://www.theautobarn.com/detail-20...3-2694815.html

Was told it's VERY clean. Having Highland Park Porsche Exchange run a 2 hour PPI on it in the morning. Looking seriously at:
- Stage 1 and stage 2 over revs
- Suspension for signs of tracking
-Transmission w/ an eye on sycros

Any other SERIOUS problems w/ 04's that I should be looking at?

Any help on this car or the AutoBarn VW in Mt. Prospect would be appreciated. If the PPI goes well I'll be picking her up Saturday morning.

Thanks, Adam

Hope the PPI works out. That's a better than average price for that mileage if the car is as clean as you hope. Make sure to dig up everything you can about its history. Best of luck! and keep us posted.

I noticed the center section just ahead of the shifter was deleted in this car. I actually prefer it this was, as the center console just seems to clutter that area up. Has anyone attempted to remove this piece? Was it easy enough? Does Porsche run carpet underneath this area? Thanks. Sorry to hijack this thread, but I noticed this right away and wanted to post.

It's a beautiful car by the way. A very nice low spec set up. I dig it!!! Good luck with the purchase. What sort of deal are you making on the car BTW?

Thanks,

Chris

Im sorry to share this news, this car has been tracked.

it says GT3 on the back!

ok, just a little humor, but us Track freaks probably take better car of the car than most garage queens. im humorously offended in the scare of the car being tracked.

I know, some of you just love the artistic value of a Porsche........

The cars are pretty much bullet proof....the tranny is a good look, Synchros seem to be funny when people learn how shift a manual transmission just before you buy it. Push all the buttons, A/C, heat, for smell, there are numerous posting on other sites that share what people have found on GT3's. I went through 4 cars before finding one that someone didn't lie about. Learn how to drive the car very slowly, and patiently, or you will see a body shop rather quickly.

yes...Super Blue as they called it has a high boiling point, and thus is great stuff for when your brakes get hot, they tend to fade alot less. Not bad for street either...or you can go to CastrolSRF, but its expensive...and most drivers don't begin to heat the brakes enough for the Castrol product to be put to the test.

OK..so I think this cars been on the track. Its had a roll bar previously. Not great news...but we'll see how the PPI goes. Not all people put roll bars in these cars to track do they? Seems like a serious mod to me.
Will these guys at at Porsche be able to see previous body damage? The car is super clean..no dents.

hey...get over it...a GT3 that hasn't been tracked isn't worth it's salt...it's what the car was intended for and where it really shines...much better than a garage queen that was wrecked by a tool that didn't know how to drive...

Console delete is an option. I ordered the parts and had mine done after I got it. If you are tall it's a worthwhile option.
